The reason for the ban was never made clear—Twitch said only that the channel was closed "due to terms of service violations"—but it was widely assumed to be related to allegations that he was also the owner of the CS:GO skin gambling site CSGOShuffle, which he heavily promoted on his channel. In 2018, Varga fired back with a lawsuit against Twitch, claiming that it suspended his channel and terminated his contract without providing a required explanation as to why. The suit alleged that Varga was never given written notice of violations and opportunities to correct them as required by the contract, and that his suspension arose from "unsubstantiated, false accusations leveled at Varga by a third party, whose accusations were the culmination of an effort to publicly disparage Varga and take advantage of his popularity." According to the suit, Varga wasn't informed of the reason for his suspension until January 2017, when a Twitch employee told him it was due to fraudulent subscribers to his channel. However, he said he was later told that the real problem was the amount…

Rickrolling is one of the most famous internet pranks of all time and despite being over ten years old, it remains amusingly culturally relevant to this day, though perhaps in a bit of an ironic way. As such, whenever someone is Rickrolled in this day and age, it’s a bit of a groaner, but for Twitch star Pokimane, the meme prank was enough to make her tear up. During her Saturday broadcast, the streamer was playing Valorant when a viewer asked her to check out a TikTok about self-defense. The suggestion piqued Anys’ interest and decided to grant the viewer their request by loading up the video. Read More: Steve-O freaks out after Chris Weidman’s leg injury at UFC 261 Right off the bat, the video began with a man explaining that he would be teaching “the deadliest self-defense move known to man.” Clearly interested in what this deadly move could be, the Canadian continued watching, and the instructor hyped the trick up, emphasizing that it was “only for life or death…

It’s not uncommon to see people twitch and move around in response to noises, temperature changes or light when snoozing away; it’s a normal part of sleep called unconscious wakefulness that most aren’t aware of or recall when the sun rises. In some cases, these sleep disruptions can cause people to feel exhausted in the morning or even lead to serious health problems if they happen consistently enough over time. Now, a new study of 8,000 people has, for the first time, found a “clear link” between the frequency and duration of these unconscious episodes and an increased risk of dying from any cause and of heart disease, especially in women. Compared to women without sleep issues, women who experience unconscious wakefulness during the night had nearly double the risk of dying from heart disease in the six to 11 years of the study’s follow-up period. Men, on the other hand, faced a risk of death from cardiovascular illness that was just more than a quarter compared to men with no sleep disruptions. The researchers say their study highlights the importance of detecting and assessing…

So who is Sykkuno and why is he becoming such a popular streamer? Sykkuno had only 16,500 followers on Twitch in 2019. By the end of 2020, he had 250,000. Today, Sykkuno has over 3.2 million followers and 32,000 subscribers. His Twitch channel is growing quickly and he averages 48,000 viewers per stream. His streams include a major variety of games, including Grand Theft Auto IV, Dead By Daylight, and Valorant. He's also commonly found in the Just Chatting channel. But what is making him so popular right now? Sykkuno is often seen as a break from more dramatic and toxic streams like Felix "xQc" Lengyel's. A lot of popular streamers appear to rely on trolling or extremely competitive gameplay to maintain their follower count. But Sykkuno's streams often feel a lot more laid back. He's considered a very wholesome streamer thanks to his reserved personality and shy demeanor. In fact, Sykkuno refused to show his face for a while. Sykkuno finally shows his face on Twitch Sykkuno started streaming back in 2011, but he wasn't active between 2015 and…
Read moreDetailsOn Thursday, while discussing his new Call of Duty commercial, we covered how some of the best moments of the time Dennis Schröder has spent with the Lakers have come while he was streaming with fans on Twitch. Well, add another one to the pantheon, because Schröder did not mince words when a commenter on his latest stream predicted that the Brooklyn Nets would sweep the Lakers in a hypothetical 2021 NBA Finals matchup between the two contenders: “My boy said in the chat ‘Nets in four.’ I told him ‘Nets if four my ass.’” Now, a lot of people are going to take this as just the perpetually competitive and candid Schröder being as unfiltered as ever, but what if this goes deeper than that? What if this is just part of Schröder’s plot to alpha Kevin Durant, and by extension, the Nets? Sound convoluted? That’s because it is, but stay with me here. Where is Durant the strongest? For those of you answering “on a superteam,” congrats on being wrong. Where Durant is really on his home turf is not when he’s trying to stack the championship odds ever in his favor, but when he’s on the internet.…

The former streamer, who sought damages after he was banned from Twitch in 2016, claimed on Twitter he had won the suit “on all counts,” and that his victory was a win for “ALL streamers.” I WONNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!I WON MY LAWSUIT VS TWITCH ON ALL COUNTS!!!!!Twitch LOST EVERYTHING, including the fraud claim against me for the CSGOShuffle allegations!!!This is a win for ALL streamers! Twitch can’t bully, lie & treat streamers unfairly the way they have for years!!! pic.twitter.com/G0gxqiBkRQ— PhantomL0rd (@PhantomL0rd) April 23, 2021 Streaming reporter Zach Bussey tweeted that Varga was awarded nearly $21,000 in the verdict, although this figure, Bussey says, “seems like a bit of a win financially” because Twitch could have lost more after a ruling in October 2019 that removed the $50,000 cap for damages. Twitch banned Varga on July 19, 2016. Varga was reported to have owned CSGO Shuffle, a website that allowed players to gamble on weapon skins. Varga allegedly obtained betting percentages and house money to use on the website without disclosing this to his viewers on Twitch or YouTube. Varga claimed in…
