(WALA) - The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged Julio Perez Jr. following a joint investigation with the Robertsdale Police Department into the sexual exploitation of a minor. In March, deputies responded to assist the Robertsdale Police Department after it was determined that Perez, 19, contacted a 15-year-old victim through the social media platform Snapchat, according to the BCSO. The sheriff’s office said Perez transported the minor from Florida to his residence in Elberta, where both parties admitted to engaging in unlawful sexual acts. Perez has been charged with second-degree rape, second-degree sodomy and traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act. Additional charges may be forthcoming, officials said. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office said any further information or help in identifying unknown victims would be appreciated. Law enforcement officials urged parents and guardians to stay actively involved in their children’s digital activity. “Social media and messaging platforms can expose minors to individuals who may misrepresent themselves or attempt exploitation,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “Adults should regularly review their children’s online use, understand which applications they are accessing, and remain aware of who their children are interacting with.” The agency said

PALO ALTO, CA, UNITED STATES, April 2, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Singular, the mobile attribution and analytics marketing platform, today released the Singular ROI Index 2026, its annual performance benchmark built on trillions of impressions, billions of clicks, and billions of installs across thousands of ad networks and millions of campaigns worldwide. For the first time in the index’s history, the 2026 edition introduces dedicated multi-touch attribution (MTA) leaderboards alongside traditional last-touch rankings. The addition reflects a structural shift in how marketers evaluate channel performance. Last-touch attribution remains the operational standard for campaign reporting and optimization. But Singular’s large scale MTA analysis shows it systematically undervalues channels that drive discovery and influence earlier in the user journey and the gaps are not marginal. In a large-scale analysis of Meta campaigns, Singular found up to 50% higher ROAS under multi-touch attribution compared to last-touch reporting. The pattern holds across other platforms in the index. The 2026 MTA leaderboards measure three metrics across all OS splits: Exclusive Reach (channels delivering unique audiences with no other advertising touchpoints in the path), Assist

They sent me to the White House. They’ve done so much for me — as well as paid my bills!” After the

The numbers tell a story of partial progress and substantial failure. Since the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Act took effect on 10 December, some five million Australian accounts belonging to under-16s have been deactivated. But the compliance report, which surveyed 898 parents at the end of January, found that roughly seven in ten children who previously used social media still had an account on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, or TikTok after the ban. Children are retaining accounts, creating new ones, and passing through age assurance systems that appear unable to stop them. Inman Grant said her office had “significant concerns about the compliance” of half the ten platforms covered by the law. The five under investigation, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube, could face

A survey of 900 Australian parents found around a third (31%) said their children still had one or more social media accounts after the ban, compared to 49% before the laws. Of the total number of under 16s who had accounts on Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok before the ban, 70% had maintained access, the survey found. On Tuesday it was revealed Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok and YouTube were all under investigation for potential non-compliance with the rules, with Australia’s communications minister, Anika Wells, alleging the companies were not doing enough to enforce the ban. The eSafety Commission claimed the technology being used by the companies – such as facial age estimation – was not effective enough, and alleged the firms had lax guardrails which allowed teens to repeatedly attempt age verification until they were successful. “None of this is impossible. None of this is even difficult for big tech who are innovative billion dollar companies. What this update shows is unacceptable,” Wells said in Canberra on

To that end, a new social media platform is risiing in importance for B2B marketers to reach buyers: Snapchat. Recent data from the GWI B2B Research Study highlights a clear shift in buyer behavior. The survey of over 2,200 professionals aged 18-45 was divided into three categories: business decision-makers, entrepreneurs, and small- to medium-sized business owners. Snapchat officials said the research revealed a high-value audience that isn’t just scrolling; they are building businesses, managing budgets, and looking for inspiration for their next professional tool. For example, Snapchat users are 1.5 times more likely to hold executive management positions compared to non-users. The survey found these users prefer creating their own career paths rather than following traditional corporate ladders as they are twice as likely to run or launch a side business compared to non-users. Among SMB owners on the app, freelance consulting and e-commerce rank as the most popular business categories. Social Media, AI Impact Social media and artificial intelligence (AI) continuously shape how these professionals work. For Snapchat users, social platforms serve as their primary

Snap ( SNAP ) stock has shed more than 51% year to date and closed at an all-time low on March 26, 2026, after a week that concentrated every risk investors had been tracking. Bulls point to a growing subscription business and a genuine path to profitability. Bears argue that Snap’s advertising model is structurally fragile, and the regulatory pressure forming around Snapchat is not a temporary overhang. The single question the market is asking right now is whether $3.93 reflects a rational reset or a massive overshoot. The European Commission opened a formal investigation into Snap on March 26 under the Digital Services Act, sending the stock down 10.69% on the day. The DSA (the EU’s framework requiring large platforms to protect users from harmful content) allows fines of up to 6% of global annual revenue for non-compliance. At Snap’s 2025 revenue base of $5.93 billion, that represents a calculated fine ceiling of approximately

An Angus Reid survey says three-quarters of more than 4,000 respondents are in favour of a ban like the one in Australia, where youth under 16 are prevented from setting up accounts on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and Threads. The survey also comes on the heels of a ruling in California last week ordering Meta and YouTube to pay millions in damages to a 20-year-old woman after a jury decided the platforms were designed to be addictive. But the majority of those who support a full ban also believe that parents should be primarily responsible for regulating teens’ social media use, not governments. The pollster called this a “curious juxtaposition.” Almost all of the respondents say they are concerned about the impacts
