Twitter to add “fleet ads” on its platform soon

Twitter will soon follow the footsteps of Facebook and Snapchat by introducing “fleet ads,” a disappearing Post feature in its platform. According to a source close to Twitter, testing of the feature will start on Tuesday. Along with this feature, the firm intends to give businesses more options to customize advertisements on Twitter in order to encourage both large and small businesses to join the platform. Image courtesy: gadget360 The goal of adopting this feature is to increase Twitter’s yearly revenue by 2023, putting it in direct competition with Facebook and Snapchat. Twitter is aiming to place ads on various parts of its platform in order to achieve its goal. Furthermore, adding Fleet advertisements to Twitter allows users to be redirected straight to the company’s official website or social media page, which can assist businesses in attracting more clients to their website. Previously, the feature was not available on Twitter; however, in order to provide greater convenience to Twitter users and businesses, Twitter is now adding this feature to its platform. Canfield doctor gets 22 years for sex with minors

CLEVELAND — A federal judge Thursday sentenced Dr. Albert Aiad-Toss, 53, of Canfield, to 22 years in prison for having sex with children ages 12 to 15 in 2019. He pleaded guilty in February before Judge Pamela Barker to seven counts of sex trafficking of a minor and one count of child exploitation. He formerly worked for an outside company as an emergency room doctor at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital but was taken off the schedule when the allegations surfaced in 2019. His medical license was suspended in December 2019 because of the criminal charges, according to the Ohio Medical Board. Federal investigators have said that Ashland police contacted the FBI after the mother of a 13-year-old girl told authorities she and other juveniles met Aiad-Toss on the social media app Snapchat and that he paid them for sex acts. In addition to the prison term, Barker also placed Aiad Toss on lifetime supervision after he leaves prison and ordered him to pay a $50,000 fine and a special assessment of $40,800. Bridget Brennan, acting U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, called the case the “largest juvenile sex trafficking prosecution to date.” Brennan said: “Juvenile sex traffickers like…

Kicking over the traces about the traceability clause

Last month, messaging platform, WhatsApp, filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court against the Indian government over the traceability clause in the new IT Rules 2021. The new IT rules requires social media platforms to locate ‘the first originator of the information’, when asked by authorities, which is called a traceability clause. Calling it unconstitutional, WhatsApp stated that it was against the fundamental right to privacy as underlined by the Supreme Court decision and urged that it not be imposed on technology mediators. It is claimed that the clause puts ‘criminal liability’ on its employees for non compliance. While this rule will affect all messaging apps including Snapchat, Signal, Telegram and Snapchat, only WhatsApp is fighting this inclusion. Could this be due to its popularity in India – it has over 390 million users in India, of which around 4% are business users? For instance, many hotels allow guests to manage their room and dining bookings through this platform. It has emerged as an important technology especially during the pandemic, when guests seek minimal personal communication with hotel staff – they can instead chat on WhatsApp. Rajarshi Bhattacharyya, CMD of ProcessIT Global Rajarshi Bhattacharyya, CMD of ProcessIT Global explains…

The definition of a small developer is one with fewer than 1 million downloads and less than $1 million in earnings and 90% of App Store developers fit this definition. And of those small developers, 25% of them have managed to increase their earnings by 25% a year over the last five years. The report also shows that close to 80% of small developers have apps in App Stores across different countries. On average, App Store developers get paid from customers located in more than 40 countries. Overall, the App Store is available in more than 175 countries and regions, supports more than…

Snapchat post leads to recovery of Olaf, the Redwood City cat-napped kitten

A 4-week-old kitten stolen from a rescue group is back with his mother and siblings after a lot of detective work and some unwise social media boasting by the suspected cat-napper. We can thank Snapchat for the happy reunion between tiny Olaf and his mother. Olaf, a Maine coon mix, shared a cage with his mother and three, furry siblings at Redwood City’s Whis-Purr Rescue until he suddenly disappeared on May 14. Not yet weaned, the tiny kitten was dependent on his mother for everything, so his disappearance was dire. The rescue quickly got the word out about the missing kitten and, thanks to donations, began offering a $2,000 no-questions-asked reward. Tips on the cat caper began pouring in, including one pointing to a Snapchat post by a teenage girl acknowledging the cat-napping, says Lucy Brock, one of the rescue organization’s directors. Brock says their focus was solely on returning the kitten to his mother, so the rescue did not involve police. Instead, they relied on the girl and her family to do the right thing and return Olaf. On May 23, rescue volunteers distributed fliers around the girl’s neighborhood about the kitten and the reward and began knocking on doors,…
