Vimeo confirms data loss in Anodot breach – Computing UK

Another victim falls to ShinyHunters A data breach at software maker Anodot earlier this month is still racking up victims, with video platform Vimeo the latest to confirm unauthorised access to customer information. Hackers, reported to be ShinyHunters, breached Anodot in early April and used that access to steal data from its various customers, which included Rockstar Games and Snowflake. ShinyHunters was able to breach Anodot by stealing authentication tokens and using them to access customer environments and exfiltrate data, which it has now started offering for sale. Vimeo is a video hosting and streaming platform similar to YouTube. It has more than 300 million registered users, about 1,100 employees and an annual revenue of $417 million. The company uses Anodot as a third-party analytics platform. It says an unauthorised actor – almost certainly ShinyHunters, which recently added Vimeo to its dark web extortion portal – accessed “certain Vimeo user and customer data” as a result of the breach. Those were primarily databases containing technical data, video titles and metadata, as well as “some” customer email addresses. They did not access video content, user login credentials or payment card information. As well as threatening to leak the data, ShinyHunters somewhat

The criminal group ShinyHunters also copied data from Vimeo during their breach at service provider Anodot. As the company apparently did not respond to the extortion attempt, the cyber gang is now making the obtained data available for free download on the dark web. The cyber gang ShinyHunters is offering stolen Vimeo data for download. Early Wednesday, the entry on ShinyHunters' dark web leak site still stated that Vimeo had only a short time to respond to the extortionists. On Thursday of this week, the entry now shows a download link for the data. Vimeo admits data leak Vimeo has meanwhile admitted the IT security incident on the company's website. According to this, Vimeo is aware of the breach at analytics service provider Anodot. An unauthorized actor has thus accessed certain Vimeo user and customer data. According to the current state of investigation, the databases essentially contain technical data, video titles, and metadata, as well as, in some cases, customer email addresses. However, no Vimeo video content, valid user credentials, or payment information are included. According to this, Vimeo's user and customer login data is secure. The incident also caused no interruptions or disruptions to systems or services. When Vimeo

Vimeo confirms data breach – SecNews

Vimeo to has confirmed a data breachthat resulted in unauthorized access a portion of its user base. According to the company, the incident did not result from a direct attack on its own systems, but from a vulnerability in an external partner, highlighting once again the risks inherent in modern digital infrastructure. The breach was traced to analytics provider Anodot, which works with Vimeo and other large organizations. Through this “backdoor,” the attackers were able to gain access to data, leveraging a classic supply chain attack. The incident is linked to the well-known cybercrime group ShinyHunters, which has been involved in major data breaches internationally in the past. The growing threat of supply chain attacks This incident is not an isolated incident, but part of a broader trend. Supply chain attacks are on the rise as attackers increasingly target the “weakest links” of a SaaS ecosystem. Rather than directly attempting to breach a well-protected organization, they are exploiting third-party partners with less stringent security measures. In early April 2026, it was reported ShinyHunters broke in, and through the third-party integration features, accessed Anodot’s users’ Snowflake accounts. Apparently, more than a dozen companies were hit, but the only confirmed victim so far is Rockstar Games, the company behind the famed Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption game series - but now, Vimeo has stated it was also affected by this attack.
