Further in the post, Facebook claimed that this outage impacted many of the internal tools and systems of the company. Due to this disruption, the officials could not resolve the problem quickly as it got complicated. On Tuesday, whistleblower Frances Haugen appeared before Congress to detail how the social media giant’s focus on profits was causing societal harm, arguing that U.S. lawmakers needed to act. Mumbai: The NCB on Monday claimed before a city court that "shocking and incriminating" material recovered in WhatsApp chats of Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, and two others who were among the nine people arrested in connection with the seizure of banned drugs from a cruise ship off the city coast showed international drug trafficking links. The Narcotics Control Bureau(NCB), which got the remand of Aryan Khan and the other eight accused from the court till Thursday, also claimed that in the WhatsApp chats he is discussing modes of payment to be done for procurement (of drugs) and that several code names are being used. Aryan Khan's lawyer claimed no drugs were recovered from his client's possession. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate R M Nerlikar while extending till October 7 the NCB remand of Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha observed that their further interrogation was required for investigation which is of prime importance. WhatsApp is building a feature that will make it easier for users to multitask while listening to voice messages. Leaker site WABetaInfo reported that the feature, Global Voice Message Player, will enable voice messages to keep playing even if the user leaves the chat. In a screenshot, it explains that the message will be pinned to the top of the screen, with a play button to continue listening and a close button to dismiss it. To remind users who they’re listening to, the pinned message will also display the name of the chat it came from. At the moment, exiting a chat pauses the voice message users are listening to. “This feature is very useful when you receive a voice message having a long duration. In this case, you can continue sending messages to other contacts when you are listening to the voice message,” said WABetaInfo, in a post. The feature was spotted during the development stage for WhatsApp beta for iOS, thus it is not yet available for use. This means the interface and design is also subject to change.

WhatsApp will roll out new features to improve 'disappearing messages' functionality. The messaging app will let users control the durations before which a message will disappear. A user can also enable a default message timer to set a selected time for all new chats with the disappearing messages feature. WhatsApp is all set to roll out new features related to disappearing messages aimed at improving the user experience. The latest update on the disappearing message features will be available for iOS beta testers today. No common users will see these features. The new feature will be called 'New Durations and Default Timer' for the time being. The new features are meant to be tools to efficiently manage disappearing messages.The first of the two features will give users control over new ephemeral durations. Previously, the messages set to 'disappearing messages' used to vanish after seven days.
