Home / Delhi News / Delhi: Boy shoots sister for chatting with friend on WhatsApp A 17-year-old boy shot his younger sister in the stomach at their home in north-east Delhi’s Welcome neighbourhood on Thursday afternoon for refusing to stop talking to or messaging her male friend on WhatsApp, the police said. The 16-year-old girl is admitted in Jag Prawesh Chandra Hospital and is expected to survive, said Ved Prakash Surya, deputy commissioner of police (North-East).Also read | Instagram influencer held for snatching dollars from Forex firm employeeThe boy, who is pursuing his education from open school and also works at a salon, has been apprehended and the pistol allegedly used in the crime recovered from him. “He has told us that he got the weapon from a friend who had passed away three-four months ago. We are ascertaining the authenticity of his claim,” said the DCP. The girl, who lives with her parents and brother, is a school dropout. The DCP said the boy had seen her past speaking over the phone and chatting on WhatsApp with a friend. “The boy would repeatedly object to it, but the girl continued with her communications,” the officer said. On Thursday morning, when he caught her chatting with her friend again, “he objected and they quarrelled over the matter. It ended with the boy bringing out a gun and shooting his sister in the stomach,” said the DCP. The parents rushed the girl to a hospital where the authorities dialled the police around 12noon. A case of attempt to murder has been registered at Welcome police station.

WhatsApp is working on a new feature called “Read Later”, which will be implemented as a replacement for Archived Chats. The new feature is currently being tested on the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, WABetaInfo reported, and is available to try out through the Apple TestFlight beta programme. This new Read Later feature will include the new Vacation Mode functionality, which allows you to continue hiding archived chats even when new messages arrive. Additionally, when a chat is placed into the Read Later section, the user will not receive notifications from that chat. The report stated that the Read Later section will be always visible in the list of WhatsApp chats. Users can edit the Read Later section to disable the Vacation Mode functionality, enabling notifications for chats stored in this section. They can also enable or disable the ability to move chats within Read Later and automatically save received media to your camera roll. Disappearing messages Read Later is not the only new feature coming to WhatsApp. The application’s new disappearing messages function has begun rolling out to the beta version of the Android messaging app, allowing users to send messages that expire after a set period of time. When disappearing messages is enabled, WhatsApp users will be able to send messages that disappear after seven days. These disappearing messages will not affect any messages sent or received within the chat previously, and in individual chats, either user can turn disappearing messages on or off. The most used messaging app in the world WhatsApp has dropped its feature WhatsApp Web from Microsoft Edge Legacy. According to the report, the software giant Microsoft launched Edge with the launch of the Windows 10 operating system in 2015. Up until 2019, it was based on the company’s own proprietary browser engine called EdgeHTML and Chakra JavasScripte engine.  However, them the Redmont-based company introduced a new version of Edge based on the Google-sponsored Chromium project. With Microsoft discontinuing the development of the original version, other companies started dropping support for it as well. As expected, Nokia has launched two new feature phones that offer a major throwback to the good ol’ days: the Nokia 6300 4G and the Nokia 8000 4G. Both have designs that are clearly inspired by some of Nokia’s iconic candybar phones in the past, although they come with some 2020 functionality, including WhatsApp. This is due to KaiOS, the operating system that both phones run on. Additionally, they share the same processor, the Snapdragon 210, and of course, they both feature 4G connectivity (don’t take that for granted, if the Nokia 5310 rebirth is anything to go by). Let’s quickly break things down. Nokia 6300 4G The 6300 4G looks pretty much identical to the classic Nokia 6300 (first launched in 2017), which isn’t a bad thing at all. You do get a 2.4″ LCD display pushing a resolution of 320×240 pixels, and there’s a single VGA camera on the rear—so I wouldn’t be using this to take too many photos, if I were you. There’s 4GB of onboard storage, and you can expand that via a microSD slot (up to 32GB). Just like classic Nokia phones, you can remove the 1,500mAh battery (chargeable with microUSB) if you need to, although a 25-day battery life (on 4G) should be sufficient for… anyone and everyone. And of course, you get a 3.5mm headphone jack—and an FM radio receiver, because… well, I suppose it might come in handy. Another “modern” feature that’s available on the 6300 4G is support for WiFi hotspots. And KaiOS also offers Google Assistant support, as well as access to other apps such as Facebook and YouTube.
