WhatsApp channels are finally getting search on iPhone – 9to5Mac

Nearly a year and a half after bringing channel update search to Android, WhatsApp is now rolling out the feature to iPhone users. Here’s how it works. Search now available for WhatsApp channel updates As spotted by WABetaInfo , WhatsApp is now rolling out the ability to search for specific updates within channels. Until now, finding a specific channel update required manually scrolling through its history. With the new feature, users can simply search for it, just as they would in a regular chat. The feature, which has been available to Android users since January 2025, can be accessed through the Search button on a channel’s details page. After searching for a word or phrase, users can use the up and down arrows to navigate between matching results. Image: WABetaInfo As with most WhatsApp features, the rollout may take some time to reach everyone. Notably, WhatsApp’s Liquid Glass redesign has been rolling out for several months and has yet to reach the app’s full user base. WABetaInfo notes that channel update search is included in WhatsApp version 26.24.72 on the App Store, and that its availability is expected to expand to more accounts in the coming days. Kunal Shah: The Indian entrepreneur taking charge of WhatsApp – BBC

CRED Kunal Shah, founder of Indian fintech start-up Cred, has taken over as head of WhatsApp Until recently, Kunal Shah was a familiar name mainly within India's startup and investor circles. The founder of fintech company Cred had steadily built a following beyond the businesses he created. His podcast appearances often ventured into topics such as trust, incentives, wealth creation and human behaviour. His social media posts ranged from artificial intelligence to philosophy. Now, with Meta appointing him to lead WhatsApp, he has been propelled into the global spotlight. The appointment follows Meta's $900m (£679m) investment in Cred and comes at a time when WhatsApp is seeking to expand beyond messaging into payments, business services and AI-powered products. While Indian-origin executives have led some of the world's biggest technology companies, it is less common for a founder who built his career within India's startup ecosystem to be handed control of a global consumer platform of that scale. WhatsApp has more than three billion users worldwide. Long before Meta came calling, Shah had become a recognisable figure in India's startup ecosystem. His first major breakthrough came with FreeCharge, a mobile recharge platform he co-founded in 2010 as India's internet economy was

WhatsApp phishing attack uses fake business docs to hack PCs – Bleeping Computer

An ongoing malware campaign is targeting WhatsApp users in multiple countries with deceptive messages that push VBScript files, leading to remote system access. The threat actor is using file names that indicate business and financial documents delivered by the victim's contacts, whose accounts had been compromised. By downloading and executing the malicious attachments, the recipient starts an infection chain that leads to installing the legitimate ManageEngine Endpoint Central, which is used by IT administrators to manage systems from a centralized dashboard. Telemetry data from cybersecurity company Kaspersky shows that the campaign spreads across Brazil, India, Mexico, Singapore, the UK, Spain, Taiwan, Australia, Russia, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Attack chain Kaspersky reports that the attacks begin with messages sent from compromised accounts that contain nothing but a heavily obfuscated VBS file. These files are given names that make them appear to be financial reports, billing statements, account notices, and similar documents likely to draw the target’s attention and prompt them to open the file. The filenames are also localized in multiple languages, further confirming the campaign’s global reach. Samples of the malicious messages Source: Kaspersky “Based on evidence collected from multiple victims through social media reports and submitted samples, we can conclude

Meta Names Indian Entrepreneur Kunal Shah As WhatsApp Chief – MediaPost

by Colin Kirkland , 3 hours ago WhatsApp's new leader will be Kunal Shah, the Indian entrepreneur and founder of Cred, a fintech startup that Meta has decided to invest $900 million into during a recent financing round. Per the arrangement, Shah will step down as the CEO of Cred -- an 8-year-old company that operates a platform for credit-card bill payments, money lending, and other payment services -- but will retain his personal shares. Moving WhatsApp’s leadership to India marks a strategic move by Meta to focus on the platform’s largest market. Currently, over 500 million of WhatsApp’s 3 billion total users live in India. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg hopes Shah can help construct WhatsApp's next phase of growth. According to Zuckerberg's recent Facebook post, the CEO feels that Shah “brings the kind of builder mentality and global perspective” it will require to run WhatsApp. advertisement advertisement “While it's come very far, the delta between WhatsApp today and its full potential is massive,” Shah added in a post on X, noting that despite its 20% stake in Cred, Meta will not have any access to the startup’s member data. Investing almost $1 billion in Cred, however, aligns Meta with

Given Just 8 Months to Live, Teen Graduates Cancer-Free 4 Years Later Thanks to Doctor’s …

Dr. Mary Austin and Dylan At the age of 14, Dylan was diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney cancer—and doctors gave him just eight months to live. But he’s alive today thanks to Dr. Mary Austin, who not only treated his disease, but transformed his thinking—through friendship and a solemn promise. She urged him to persevere through 52 weeks of chemotherapy so she could attend his high school graduation. Dr. Austin, who made time for lunch with Dylan, was there for the boy, checking-in during his darkest days, when there was serious doubt he would live long enough to get that diploma. “I call her my second mom,” the Kansas City teen told CBS’s Steve Hartman. “She just hyped him up,” Dylan’s mom says. Dylan’s parents believe this human connection played a big part in saving their son. “Just that trick of saying, ‘Hey, I’ll make it for your graduation,’ changed everything,” added Dylan’s dad. “He just decided, you know… to keep fighting.” Now 4 years later, he’s cancer free, and this month he donned a cap and gown for a graduation ceremony—and there was a big surprise waiting at the end.
