WhatsApp rolling out multi-account support more widely on iOS – 9to5Mac

WhatsApp is finally rolling out multi-account support on iPhone, bringing one of its most requested features to iOS. Here are the details. Add new or existing accounts Last November, WhatsApp began testing multi-account support with beta users on iPhone, bringing one of its longest-requested features a step closer to launch. The beta rollout came months after WABetaInfo spotted references to the feature in the app’s code, alongside groundwork for the upcoming username system. While username support is still in development, WhatsApp is now officially rolling out multi-account support to users via the App Store version of the app. As WABetaInfo noted, WhatsApp officially announced the feature a few months ago, but “not all users were able to add a second account immediately,” as it was “still available only to a limited number of users.” That’s hardly unusual for WhatsApp, which is known for its slow, phased rollouts. The app’s Liquid Glass redesign, for instance, took more than seven months to reach a broader audience after its initial testing phase, and even now it hasn’t reached everyone. That said, users can check whether the feature is available to them by going to Settings > Account and looking for an “Add account”

EU Orders Meta to Reopen WhatsApp to AI Rivals – TechRepublic

Meta may be forced to reopen its messaging platform WhatsApp to rival AI services months after booting them off, following the European Commission’s call for their swift reinstatement. The Commission’s intervention comes before it has completed its antitrust investigation, as it claims competition could be harmed before the case concludes. Meta has already embedded its own AI model more deeply into WhatsApp Business and is rapidly exploring other chatbot use cases within the messaging service. “In rapidly evolving markets, competition can be lost long before a final decision is adopted,” said EC Commissioner for Competition Teresa Ribera in a press statement on Tuesday. “These interim measures will safeguard competition in the growing market for AI assistants, by preserving a key entry point to reach consumers in Europe – WhatsApp – and allowing AI companies to innovate, scale up and reach their full potential.” All AI chatbots were kicked off WhatsApp late last year as Meta began transitioning away from the open-source, collaborative approach it had adopted during its early AI research. Microsoft announced it would pull Copilot from WhatsApp in January 2026, and other smaller players were unceremoniously booted off around that time. Some smaller startups welcomed the decision, including

Meta Accuses NSO of Violating WhatsApp Court Injunction – Security Affairs

Meta says NSO violated a court injunction by targeting WhatsApp users again through phishing campaigns and test accounts. Last year, WhatsApp won a landmark case against NSO Group, the Israeli spyware vendor behind Pegasus, and secured a permanent court injunction barring the company from ever targeting WhatsApp or its users again. The court was unambiguous: NSO had violated US federal and state hacking laws. That should have been the end of it. It wasn’t. Meta investigated user reports and detected new targeting attempts linked to NSO, which were disrupted by the company. “We successfully disrupted NSO-linked social engineering attempts, after investigating user reports. They tried to trick people into clicking on malicious links to drive them to external websites outside of WhatsApp, similar to previously reported 1-click phishing campaigns linked to NSO.” reads the Meta’s announcement.”We also caught them creating test accounts and groups on WhatsApp, which we took down.” The attempts weren’t subtle: classic spear phishing, luring targets away from the encrypted environment into attacker-controlled territory outside the app’s protections. Meta also caught NSO creating test accounts and groups on WhatsApp, which it took down. The company is now filing a federal court contempt motion against NSO for violating

Meta alleges NSO violated spyware injunction with new WhatsApp attacks – Ars Technica

Meta’s contempt-of-court filing was not yet available today. We contacted NSO Group and will update this article if it provides a comment. Meta: NSO is malicious, “continues to defy US courts” WhatsApp filed its case against NSO in 2019, alleging that NSO used WhatsApp to send malware to about 1,400 mobile phones and devices for the purpose of surveilling the devices’ users. “The evidence showed that defendants reverse-engineered WhatsApp’s code to create a modified version of the WhatsApp client application, which they then used to install their software on target users’ devices via WhatsApp’s servers,” US District Judge Phyllis Hamilton wrote in the permanent injunction order. “The evidence further showed that defendants repeatedly re-designed their software to avoid detection and circumvent plaintiffs’ security fixes.” Meta said today that its “case has shown that NSO continues to build spyware tools to target people’s devices… When a malicious company on the US government’s Entity List continues to defy US courts, existing restrictions must remain firmly in place.” NSO’s appeal to the 9th Circuit was opposed in an amicus brief filed last month by the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University. “The proliferation of commercial spyware across the globe is a profound

Raiders Get Compelling Message Involving 49ers, Maxx Crosby – Heavy Sports

Getty (Photo by Lachlan Cunningham/Getty Images) The Las Vegas Raiders don’t appear willing to trade Maxx Crosby right now, but speculation about the veteran pass rusher hasn’t gone away and has resurfaced after the Los Angeles Rams made a deal for Myles Garrett. As a result, any team in the NFC could be looking at Crosby as a counter to what the Rams have brewing with their defensive line. One team that needs to consider the Raiders’ star because of the NFC West is the San Francisco 49ers. Moreover, Vincent Bonsignore of the California Post published a trade idea in which the Niners and Raiders would make a blockbuster deal. “His name is Maxx Crosby, he resides just over 500 miles away in Las Vegas, and for the right price, he can be pried away from the rebuilding Raiders,” Bonsignore wrote in his June 6 article . “It’s time to push the chips to the middle of the table, and that means Lynch calling Raiders general manager John Spytek and making an offer.  “According to multiple league sources, that deal framework would likely be a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and young defensive end Mykel Williams for Crosby.
