Research by three Carr School faculty featured on Forbes.com – Troy Today

Dr. Josh McGowan Three Troy University professors have landed on Forbes.com for their research into why the country is facing a shortage of accountants. Dr. Josh McGowan, Director of the Carr School of Accounting, Dr. Ryan Dunn and Dr. Ventsi Stamenov, both assistant professors in the School, are featured for a March 26th article entitled “The Accounting Pipeline Shortage: Are We Making Progress,” released in Accounting Horizons, a web publication of the American Accounting Association. Dr. Ryan Dunn Their study examines whether the accounting industry is doing enough to counter heavy workloads, insufficient compensation and lower job satisfaction to make the accounting field more attractive to new students and CPAs. “We are honored to have our research highlighted by Forbes. Our work, which examines critical issues such as salaries and work-life balance, is contributing to important conversations among practitioners while directly informing what we teach in the classroom,” McGowan said. “The Carr School of Accountancy is committed to producing research that has a direct impact on the accounting profession.” Dr. Ventsislav Stamenov The study documented recent trends in real compensation, average weekly hours, and the link between workload and job satisfaction. Results found a significant decrease in weekly hours of 2.3 per week while real compensation has decreased

Farewell, Twitter – The Big Picture – Barry Ritholtz

Twitter Users Statistics – Key Data for 2026 Twitter Marketing For the past 30 years, I have been sharing my ideas on investing, markets, the economy, policy, and related topics. Online, in public, no hold barred; writing for a broad audience invites comments, criticism, and general interaction. So it was no surprise that when Twitter came along, I jumped in (Thanks, Howard!). It was an amazing technology that gave you access to awesome people you otherwise would not have met; it enabled cool interactions with readers. It became a community of like-minded individuals across a variety of topics. For me, this included everything from markets and investing, economic analysis, and behavioral finance to cosmology and collectible cars. Before Chart Kid Matt, many of the most-liked charts seen on The Big Picture were originally found on Twitter. I hadn’t noticed the slow bleed on the site until I was hacked in July 2023. Someone took control of the account until Bloomberg helped me get it back 3 months later. The site had changed so radically that I didn’t recognize it.1 My partner Josh, always ahead of the curve, saw the writing on the wall and tapped out in 2020. Trying to

The X app – you know, Twitter – for Android is on fire, but a fix is coming – 9to5Google

If you’ve been trying to use the Twitter/X app on Android lately, you’ve probably noticed a whole host of issues. Thankfully, a fix is coming soon. Over the past few days, the Twitter/X app for Android has been left with some of its core functions inoperable. Opening links either pops up a menu to choose between two Twitter/X apps, or the link itself just doesn’t open up. Instead, you’re just met with your main feed. This is a widespread issue, and it has a big impact on the app. Trying to open links or embeds from websites in the Twitter/X app never opens the actual content, and the same occurs with notifications. If you tap on a notification from the app, the app simply opens without directing itself to whatever the notification was for. The Head of product at Twitter/X joked that the app is “on fire” and, yeah, that sums it up nicely. Thankfully, a fix is in the works. Arkadii Ivanov, a Twitter/X employee working on the Android app, says “a fix will be rolling out soon.” Some claim the latest update fixes the problem. Henry Winkler Admits He Still Likes the ‘Good Parts of Twitter’ | Video – TheWrap

Twitter may have seen a mass exodus of celebrities when Elon Musk took over the social media platform a few years ago, but Henry Winkler is among the few that remain. And, according to the actor, he actually does still like it — well, at least “the good parts” of it. During the actor’s on “Late Night” on Monday night in support of his show “Hazardous History With Henry Winkler,” host Seth Meyers called out a delightful interaction Winkler recently had on the social media platform, in which he joked with a fan that he also waited for the “Happy Days” cliffhanger of Fonzi jumping a shark. “Well, you know what? I like the good parts of Twitter,” Winkler replied. “I still do. I call it Twitter.” Meyers quickly agreed that, before Musk took over, the platform was legitimately fun, and “a really nice way to interact and engage with people.” At that, Winkler noted that he’s also figured out something about the less fun pieces of it. “And recently, all of those people throwing shade at me, I look them up,” he explained. “And they have like, four followers. They’re a bot!” The irony is, when Musk took over

Waite Park Man in Custody After Sartell Shooting – KNSI

(KNSI) – A 24-year-old Waite Park man is in custody after a shooting in Sartell Sunday morning and a brief manhunt. Sartell Public Safety Director Brandon Silgjord said Jakob Dylan Mohr turned himself in voluntarily and was taken into custody at around 11:50 a.m. Investigators had been searching for Mohr since earlier in the morning, when they say he fired multiple shots at another driver and then fled the scene. According to Silgjord, the Sartell Police Department responded to a report from a man who said he had been shot while driving. The victim told officers he had been traveling through St. Cloud when he noticed a vehicle following him closely and driving aggressively. Both vehicles continued northbound on Highway 15 out of St. Cloud before the victim exited onto County Road 120 in an attempt to get away. Near Sam’s Club, the suspect vehicle pulled alongside the victim’s car, and the driver fired multiple shots. One round struck the victim, who was able to call 911 after the suspect fled. The victim is being treated for his injuries and is expected to survive. Investigators later located the suspect vehicle at a bar in Sauk Rapids, though Mohr was not
