AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn baseball associate head coach Gabe Gross will transition to a new role and serve Auburn Athletics as a special assistant for athletics engagement. “My family and I have been incredibly blessed over the years by many things, but perhaps none more so than Auburn University and the game of baseball,” Gross said. “It has been an incredible honor to serve as Auburn’s hitting coach over the last nine years, an experience my entire family has cherished, but the time has come for me to transition into a different role for Auburn Athletics. “I have two teenagers at home, and our time with them under our roof is quickly fading,” Gross added. “The current construct of collegiate athletics and college baseball demand your full attention, and my family does as well. While it’s difficult to step away, I know it’s the right decision. I want to thank Coach Thompson for giving me the opportunity to coach at Auburn. You want to know how you can tell? Take a look at Dame Sarr. Sophomore Sarr is not the same player as freshman Sarr. He’s much more cut. Going forward, we think the guys to watch for improvement are going to be Cameron Williams and Maxime Meyer. Both are fairly slender teenagers right now, but if they bulk up significantly, their ability to inflict punishment on an opponent should go up sharply. Small but telling detail: the video starts and ends with Caleb Foster, who is setting up for a great leadership role this season.

In the unique position of leading the AL Central and possessing the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft, the Chicago White Sox selected UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky with that top spot on Saturday. Cholowsky was a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, given annually to the most outstanding amateur baseball player in the nation, this past season at UCLA, where he helped the Bruins win 52 games, become Big Ten regular-season champions and take home the conference tournament title. Advertisement Cholowsky slashed .320/.452/.636 with a team-leading 21 home runs to go with 60 RBI. He came a long way in L.A., and so did the Bruins, who, in Cholowsky's freshman season, finished 19-33 and last in the Pac-12 during the conference's final year before a mass exodus of schools, including UCLA. His breakout sophomore campaign helped UCLA return to the Men's College World Series for the first time since 2013 and made him the widely projected No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft. Over 1,100 new students competed for the coveted Spirit Stick, played kickball into the night and learned the ins and outs of the Troy Campus during the first eight sessions of IMPACT, the two-day orientation that covers all aspects of student life at TROY. IMPACT welcomes incoming freshmen and transfer students to TROY beginning in June to prepare them for life as a college student before classes begin in August. Spring graduates from Troy University’s Department of Art and Design have displayed their final projects in the Huo Bao Zhu Gallery at the International Arts Center (IAC). The Senior Thesis Exhibit opened on May 14 with a reception and award ceremony. The exhibition will remain in the gallery until August 23. Isabella Stokes a graphic design major from Troy, received the Dean’s Award for her project “Bella Blue,” a type one diabetes subscription box. Retiring faculty members, Kelly Berwager and Beverly Leach, were recognized for their many years of dedication and service to the department.
