FC Halifax Town are delighted to confirm the signing of winger Connor Douglas, following his release by Premier League side Leeds United. Having come through the age groups at Leeds, the winger signed his first professional deal with the club in the summer of 2024. Comfortable on either wing, Douglas was utilised by both the under 18s and under 21s squads before signing his professional contract. The wide midfielder netted the winner for the under 21s in a Premier League 2 fixture against Manchester United under 21s in 2023. Last season, Douglas spent the first half of the season with the Leeds under 21s squad, however signed on loan for John McGrath’s Buxton side on Boxing Day. The winger went on to make 26 league appearances for the club, scoring once and assisting a further four, as the Bucks secured a playoff finish. Whilst at Leeds in the first part of the season, Douglas featured in the National League Cup fixture against The Shaymen, playing the full 90 as he had done the previous season as well. Bob Iger, who stepped down from his second stint as Disney CEO in March, gave an exit interview to Financial Times in which he revealed that he tried to acquire the James Bond franchise for Disney amid a spending spree that included the acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel and “Star Wars.” Pixar was priority number one for Iger, and the studio “felt unstoppable” when it acquired Pixar in May 2006 for $7.4 billion. “It was like the clouds lifted and the sun started to shine again,” Iger said. “We put together a list of acquisition targets. Marvel was one, ‘Star Wars’ was another, James Bond was one. We had a list and I figured let’s just tick them off and buy them all.” James Bond is the franchise that got away (Amazon is its current owner). Other companies did, too. Iger told FT that he was close to buying Twitter from owner Jack Dorsey “at a very attractive price.” The plan was to turn Twitter into a global distribution platform for Disney, but Iger admitted he got cold feet on the morning of the deal and worried it would be “a horrible distraction.” Elon Musk ended up buying Twitter and transforming

Elon Musk’s X was down for thousands of users globally on Monday, according to Downdetector.com. There were more than 9,800 reports of issues with the social media platform, as of 10:18 a.m. ET, according to Downdetector. Downdetector tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources. The actual number of affected users may differ from what is shown, as the reports are submitted by users. X was also down for over 1,300 users in Canada, as of 10:16 a.m. ET, and for over 1,400 users in the UK, as of 10:18 a.m. ET. Jamie Holt/Virginia Athletics Anna Moesch won the 100m Free in the fastest time ever recorded on American soil INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Members of Virginia's men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams closed out competition at the four-day TYR Pro Swim Series stop held June 17-20 at the Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rising junior Anna Moesch set the US Open record in the 100m Free of 52.11, the fastest time in the event ever recorded on American soil. Moesch set the American record in the event last month at the AP Race London. Moesch was one of three Cavaliers to win gold on the final day of the competition. Aimee Canny won the 100 Breast with a time of 1:05.97, the fourth fastest time in the world this year.  Kate Douglass won the 50 Fly (25.39) with rising senior Claire Curzan finishing second (25.76). For the men, rising sophomore Maximus Williamson made the A Final of the 100m Free, his second A Final of the week, finishing fifth with a 48.65. Rising junior Spencer Nicholas was tied for eighth in the prelims of the 50m Fly. He lost the swim-off, but posted a 23.79 in the swim-off, just .02

Scott Bruhn Due to inclement weather, tonight’s Red Sea Rising Event has been moved indoors to the Hawks Championship Center. The event remains open to fans, with doors to the Hawks Center opening at 6 p.m.  Semifinal action in the Battle of the Boneyard 7-on-7 event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., followed by the championship round.  Nebraska Football’s special announcement will take place after the conclusion of the championship match. Parking is free in lots around the Hawks Center and Memorial Stadium.
