Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward says she manages her own social media accounts. That includes her Twitter, on which she recently described someone as a misogynist and called them a vulgar term for “jerk” in response to a particular tweet. The word was partially censored. The insult was part of an exchange Woodward had with a user Tuesday, which was International Women’s Day. The exchange stemmed from a tweet Woodward shared recognizing the city of Limerick, sharing a photo of her in a video chat. Limerick, one of Spokane’s sister cities, is expected to be the first city in Ireland with a directly elected mayor. A user, who identified himself as Terry Parker, commented on the photo with a tweet that said, “look at t.v. girl’s script. For a phone call. The suit cannot be more empty. A cluster of Russian Embassy Twitter accounts are sowing misinformation as the country’s bloody invasion of neighboring Ukraine escalates, but they might not get away with it for long. On Thursday, Twitter took action against one particularly egregious tweet claiming that a pregnant victim fleeing the site of a hospital bombing in Mariupol was an actor in “some very realistic makeup.” The account belongs to the Russian Embassy in London, which has been actively disseminating false information about ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine. Responding to a photo of a pregnant woman in the aftermath of the attack, @RussianEmbassy tweeted “… She has some very realistic make-up. She is also doing well with her beauty blogs. Plus she could not be in the maternity house at the time of the strike, as it has long been taken by the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion who told all the staff to clear the place.” The false claims appear to have originated in Russian-language Telegram channels, which accused a Ukrainian blogger present at the hospital of playing the part of two different pregnant women at the scene of the bombing. Twitter today is updating its app to make it easier to switch between the algorithmically programmed Home timeline and the feed that displays the “Latest” tweets. Typically, when users want to move between timelines, they have to tap the “sparkle” icon in the top-right of the screen, then do so again to switch back. But starting today on iOS, tapping that icon will offer the option to pin both the Home and Latest timelines to your Twitter Home page, so you can instead swipe back and forth between the two feeds. Explains Twitter, the update makes the option to see recent posts “more visible and intuitive to use.” It also reduces confusion by making it easier to see which timeline you’re currently scrolling, the company says. The change comes at a time when there’s been increased regulatory pressure on tech companies related to their algorithmic recommendation systems and the lack of transparency around their inner workings. The Kentucky Wildcats faced off against the South Carolina Gamecocks in the SEC Tournament Championship seeking their first title since 1982. Even John and Ellen Calipari made the trip to support this team. The Cats were playing their fourth game in four days as they defeated Mississippi State, LSU, and Tennessee to reach their first title appearance since 2014. It was a great start for the Cats as they came out of the gate strong and found themselves trailing just 21-18 after the first quarter. The second quarter showed that the Cats may have had some tired legs playing for the 4th consecutive day as they scored just three points. However, they were still locking down defensively, holding the Gamecocks to just nine points in the quarter. Despite the poor shooting, Kentucky found themselves down just 30-21 heading into the halftime break. The third quarter was an offensive showing by both teams, as South Carolina outscored the Cats 25-22 to take a 55-43 lead into the fourth. The Boston Celtics defeated the Brooklyn Nets 126-120 on Sunday afternoon in Massachusetts to improve to 39-27 on the season.    As for the Nets, they dropped to 32-33 in the 65 games that they have played, which puts them under .500 on the season.   The Nets had been the top seed in the Eastern Conference at one point this season, but they went on an 11-game losing streak prior to the All-Star break.  The loss to the Celtics made them fall from the eighth seed to the ninth seed. They have also dealt with players in and out of the lineup such as Kyrie Irving not being able to play in home games, and Ben Simmons yet to make his debut for the team.  Jayson Tatum scored a game-high 54 points, while Kevin Durant had 37 points for the Nets.  Some of what people on Twitter are saying about the game can be seen in the tweets embedded below.
