(Source – Twitter)Most of us use Twitter hashtags to look up trending topics and happenings around them. For businesses, Twitter hashtags enable them to monitor what people are saying about their product and to also understand the conversations that are going on about their brand or product.Interestingly, Twitter hashtags are also now being used in dealing with the global climate crisis. According to Amy Udelson, Director of Marketing, Twitter Developer Platform at Twitter, the social media app discovered an annual increase of 50% for English Tweets that mention the phrase “climate change” or hashtag #climatechange. For example, when the Australian bushfires made headlines around the world prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were nearly 10 million Tweets related to it from people around the world between December 2019 and March 2020. In Indonesia, the Jakarta floods in the first week of January 2020 saw 20,000 Tweets alone. But how can these Tweets be used to help with climate change? As extreme weather unfolds across the globe, people come to Twitter before, during, and after these events to talk about what’s happening. Powered by social insights and analytics, these real-time conversations can be harnessed to provide instant alerts, relief efforts, and assessment of the…

Another wild NFL Sunday is in the books. It included a new field goal record on a game-winning kick, upset wins, a battle between the Rams-Bucs and more. LOS ANGELES — It was another wild week in the NFL with last-second wins, record-setting performances and some surprising losses. After Week 3, just five teams remain undefeated. The Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Rams, Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders all picked up their third wins this week.  While these five teams have been more than solid thus far this year, what did we learn on the third NFL Sunday of the year? The Twitter account for Amazon's hit animated series, Invincible, trolls fans by posting an unexpected Rick Roll video to hype up seasons 2 and 3. The PR team behind Amazon's hit animated series, Invincible, is having a blast trolling fans on Twitter. The series itself is based on the comic series of the same name, written by The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman. In a similar vein to Marvel's Spider-Man comics, Invincible follows the story of a high schooler named Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) as he juggles his high school life with his secret life as the titular superhero, Invincible. However, unlike (most iterations of) Spider-Man, Invincible is unique in that it uses the bright colors and costumes typically associated with superheroes to mask a gory and violent underlying narrative. While Invincible shares many superficial similarities with Amazon's other gritty superhero series The Boys, the former sets itself apart from the latter by retaining an optimistic tone bolstered by genuinely heartwarming relationships between Mark and the show's various secondary cast – most notably, with his Superman-esque father, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons). Invincible doesn't ever eschew violence, but it does make sure to return to its hopeful roots by the time the dust settles. The formula proved to be enough of a hit for Amazon to renew the series for seasons…

This image is from the official trailer for “Chicago Party Aunt,” produced by Netflix. Who doesn’t have a rowdy, inappropriate, booze-loving relative? You know, the one who drinks a little too much at holiday dinners and overshares about their sex life? On the off chance that your family lacks this chaotic member, Netflix’s new show “Chicago Party Aunt” is more than willing to help you fill that void.  “Chicago Party Aunt” originally started in 2016 as a Twitter account that published jokes about a specific type of Chicago woman. She’s loud, inappropriate and quite the partier. Now, the idea has been turned into a show whose main character, Diane Dunbrowski (Lauren Ash, “Superstore”), epitomizes the archetype of the Chicago Party Aunt. If it’s not already clear, she is an aunt who lives in Chicago and loves to party. In the series’s pilot, the audience is introduced to Diane. Her bejeweled jeans, spiky hair and boisterous personality, paired with a heavy drinking habit, give her more in common with a college student than your typical sitcom aunt. Thus, it’s no shock that her life is almost always in shambles. Over the course of the first episode, she is fired from her…

When I began looking around for other articles related to my pitch for my column this week, I was honestly shocked at how little media coverage has been afforded to the decline of internet forums. The death of the webforum is not in doubt — a February 2020 piece in tech publication Engadget, for instance, attests that it is happening — but outside of that article most mention of the phenomenon is limited to websites like Quora and Reddit. It is a shame that this ongoing phenomenon has received so little attention, because internet forums were an enjoyable and unique way to discuss topics on the internet. They were the bedrock of so many subcultures, especially gaming ones, and I was part of many of these groups. Yvonne Tang / DFP Staff Being 19 years old, the older end of “Generation Z,” there were only a few years in my life where webforums were still alive but I was old enough to write coherent posts for them by myself. This window of time, the early 2010s, was also when I began to really fall in love with video games and play them competitively. The first game that I dedicated myself…
