WATCH: Jim On YouTube Premieres With Jeopardy! Memories

At the end of my interview with Alex Trebek on the set of Jeopardy, he grabbed the mic and proceeded to ask me a question. ‘Jim Heath, what is the number one newscast in the desert southwest?” he asked. Without hesitation I responded: “Alex, I believe that answer is Nightside!” He gave me that legendary Trebek look, like I was the biggest idiot on the planet, and responded: “You didn’t phrase that in the form of a question Get him out of here, can we have somebody else?” I was genuinely embarrassed, but it made a fantastic promo for our three-part Behind-The-Scenes at Jeopardy series. On the first Jim on YouTube episode, we look back at my special time with Trebek in 2002, when we recorded an interview from the campus of UCLA in Los Angeles. WATCH: Jim on YouTube: Trebek holds the Guinness World Record for most game show episodes hosted by the same presenter. The only time Trebek missed out on an episode in its 30 seasons was when he and Wheel of Fortune’sPat Sajak switched hosting gigs for April Fool’s Day.

YouTube TV Adds Free Preview of MLB.TV Until March 31st

In February, YouTube TV and MLB.TV announced a new deal that would bring the out-of-market streaming package to the Live TV Streaming Service. Until March 30th, you will be able to watch the rest of Spring Training 2021 for free on YouTube TV, with a free preview. MLB.TV includes out-of-market access to almost every game (excluding ESPN, FOX, and MLB Network telecasts). This is ideal for fans who live away from your favorite team or want to catch teams or players out of your local area. You’ll also be able to watch every Spring Training game without local blackouts. MLB.TV telecasts will be available in the YouTube TV grid guide, but if you use a “Custom Guide”, you must make sure to go to “Settings” —> “Live Guide” to add them. While it’s not the return of Regional Sports Networks like many fans had hope, during the regular season local telecasts are available on-demand without blackouts 90 minutes after a game end. Since YouTube TV no longer offers Fox Sports RSNs, while not ideal, this is at least way to watch the games in its entirety. The only option to stream YES Network, Marquee Sports Network, and Fox Sports RSNs,…

Thomas Almeida: Sean O'Malley 'popular on YouTube' but still unproven in the UFC

Sean O’Malley is one of the most popular fighters in the UFC roster with more than one million followers on social media. But his UFC 260 opponent, Thomas Almeida, doesn’t put too much weight on those stats when it comes to actual fighting. O’Malley broke through as a rising star with a first-round knockout over Alfred Khashakyan on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2017, winning four in a row under the UFC banner before getting finished by Marlon Vera this past August. For Almeida, O’Malley “is popular on YouTube, but still has to prove many things in the UFC,” he said in an interview with MMA Fighting. “He’s a good kid, a talented kid, but still has to do a lot more. I face him like any other regular opponent. He has his qualities, he’s a talented kid, but I’ll do my game in there. I’m going there to work, be aggressive and represent. I’m really happy with this opportunity.” Almeida feels O’Malley’s fame is deserving, but thinks “Sugar” has to fight “tough opponents to be recognized in the UFC” and earn a different kind of notoriety. “In my opinion, in order to be recognized and famous, he has to…

James Charles Will Not Host Season 2 Of 'Instant Influencer,' YouTube Says

James Charles will not host the second season of YouTube reality series Instant Influencer. “We can confirm Season 2 of the YouTube originals series ‘Instant Influencer’ will take a new creative direction, including a new host,” the platform told Variety. “We thank James for a great first season, and look forward to building on the show’s success by expanding the opportunity to showcase a diversity of creators across the YouTube platform in our upcoming season.” The show’s first season garnered 58 million views across five episodes and crowned winner Ashley ‘StrashMe’ Strong (679K subscribers), who later signed with Slash Management. Charles was previously announced as the host of the upcoming second season. YouTube did not give a reason for the recast and “new creative direction,” but its decision arrives a few weeks after Charles was accused of sending sexually explicit photos and messages to a 16-year-old fan. Charles denied the allegations, saying that he added the person on Snapchat and “woke up to several snaps from this person being excited I added him back, saying he loved me, and also lewd photos of himself in the shower.” Charles said he asked the person’s age and was told they were 18.…
