YouTube’s new ‘exposure-based’ model counts hovering over video as a view | Euronews

Published on 31/08/2026 - 17:32 GMT+2 YouTube is about to make every video on the platform look far more popular overnight, and it will not cost the company a cent. ADVERTISEMENT ADVERTISEMENT The platform is shifting to what it calls an "exposure-based model" for views, applied across every format, including shorts, long-form videos, podcasts and live streams. Under the new system, a "view" counts the moment the first frame plays, even if someone is just hovering over a thumbnail. The upshot is simple — the big number under every video is about to go up, probably fast, and it will be counted the same way everywhere on the platform. The change kicks in for any video uploaded after 24 August, which will show the new first-frame count from the outset. Videos already on the platform keep their existing tally until then, after which future views get counted under the new rules. YouTube frames this as a tidying-up exercise, more "consistency" across the platform, no content slipping through uncounted and less confusion about what a view actually represents. But there is a useful precedent for what "consistency" actually means in practice. YouTube already ran this experiment when it switched its short

Another Round features in Mr. Beast’s newest YouTube video – Indiana Daily Student

Imagine a member of YouTuber Mr. Beast’s team asks you and your friends to feature in the creator’s next video, posted to a channel with 515 million subscribers. For IU’s all-male a cappella group, Another Round, that’s exactly what happened. In “Escape 100 Cops, Win $500k,” released Aug. 22, internet personality Jimmy Donaldson, known as Mr. Beast, and his friends must evade a team of 100 Indiana State Police officers. Throughout a duration of 12 hours, each successful arrest would give the ISP department $100k. Six of Another Round’s members were featured in the video. Their team was tasked with hanging out at a crowded market built exclusively for the video, which was used to divert the cops away from Mr. Beast and his friends. Despite having only a sliver of screentime in the final video — through an aerial drone shot — several ensemble members said the experience was really exciting. Gannon Michna, a senior studying marketing and advertising at IU, and Justin Katin, a senior studying musical theater, were both featured in the video. Both said the group spent their free, offscreen time on set at the Muscatatuck Urban Trainer Center in southern Indiana singing a cappella. “We

Bundesliga Media has expanded its UK and Ireland broadcast approach for the 2026-27 season, adding a YouTube channel fronted by former Premier League winner Jamie Vardy and renewing its agreement with the YouTube channel That’s Football, hosted by Mark Goldbridge. Vardy will lead the live broadcast on the YouTube channel Jamie Vardy’s Having a Party, showing seven Bundesliga Friday night matches across the UK and Ireland during the season. The partnership begins with the season-opening fixture between FC Bayern München and VfB Stuttgart this evening (Friday 28 August), with further matches to be confirmed during the campaign. The collaboration forms part of a broader partnership with Banijay Entertainment. Through Banijay UK and its Workerbee production company, the group will produce the Bundesliga live show with Vardy and other guests, providing reaction, insight and discussion around German football fixtures. “Fans don’t just want to watch football anymore, they want to experience it with the people they already know and trust,” said Rick Murray, chief executive of Workerbee. “Jamie has built an incredible community around the podcast, and thanks to our Bundesliga partnership, we can bring that audience closer to some seriously big games. YouTube Gold: Duke Smokes West Virginia In The 2010 Final Four

In 2008, #2 seed Duke played #7 West Virginia in the NCAA Tournament, only to see the Mountaineers upset them, 73-67. West Virginia was led by Joe Mazzulla, who had 13 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. Now, of course, he is the head coach of the Boston Celtics. Duke lost largely because West Virginia was more physical and far tougher. Fast forward to 2010, and the Blue Devils got another crack at West Virginia, this time in the Final Four. Duke really didn’t have much trouble with the Mountaineers in this one, leading by 8 at the half, and building a 21-point lead in the second stanza. This team was far more physical than the 2008 version, and would not be bullied. The Blue Devils shot 13-25 from behind the line and Brian Zoubek had 6 points and 10 rebounds and lots of muscle inside. Jon Scheyer scored 23 points and had six assists, with no turnovers. Two days later, the Blue Devils had an absolutely classic championship matchup with the Butler Bulldogs, barely prevailing when Gordon Hayward’s very long shot rimmed out at the buzzer.
