But since a November release on YouTube, the group’s “Holiday Collage” virtual festival of song has been warming souls online. Led by Music Director Ed Bolkovac, the group was holding a watch party Friday, Dec. 18, at 8 p.m., with the YouTube video available free through Jan. 10 at NewHavenChorale.org. The Zoom video features a performance of “Hallelujah, Amen” by Handel. (It was the second virtual release, after “Silver Rain,” which was seen by 5,000 viewers online.) Chorale spokeswoman Alice Hummel said in an email that 3,000 have viewed the uplifting holiday offering so far. “As you can imagine the year has been a difficult one,” she said. “No in-person rehearsals, no live performances. UK's Unlikely YouTube Star

By Dave Melanson Wednesday LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 16, 2020) — Steve Summers, a University of Kentucky Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) staff member is known around the center for his positive attitude and ability to fix just about any piece of research equipment. But he is infinitely better known for starting a Geo Metro that had been parked in his yard for over four years. Summers, a senior technician at CAER, is a YouTube star. His do-it-all machine repair show has drawn interest, viewers and followers from around the world. His YouTube channel has more than 47,000 followers and some of his episodes have gone viral. In fact, the episode where he started the Geo Metro has drawn over half a million views so far. Summers will tell you, however, that growing a YouTube channel was never part of his life plan. He always enjoyed repairing vintage machine tools, and had a workshop where he enjoyed his hobby. A few years back, he acquired a new machine and was interested in learning more about how to operate and repair that piece of equipment. Summers says he is more of a visual learner and went to YouTube for his answers. He found…

Google think tank's report on white supremacy says little about YouTube, blamed for its role in …

CLOSE The CEOs of Twitter, Facebook and Google are facing a grilling by GOP senators making unfounded allegations that the tech giants show anti-conservative bias. Their focus includes Section 230, a law relating to unfettered internet speech. (Oct. 28) AP DomesticA Google-funded report examines the relationship between white supremacists and the internet, but it makes scant reference – all of it positive – to YouTube, the company's platform that many experts blame more than any other for driving people to extremism. The report, by Jigsaw, a "tech incubator" that has operated within Google for the past decade, draws from interviews with dozens of former extremists and describes how the internet is a breeding ground for hate groups.Study after study has shown that YouTube serves as a megaphone for white supremacists and other hate groups and a pipeline for recruits. YouTube’s algorithm has been found to direct users to extreme content, sucking them into violent ideologies. “They're underemphasizing the role that their own technology and their own platforms have in pushing people towards extremism,” said Bridget Todd, a writer and host of the podcast "There are No Girls on the Internet."Biden urged to confront extremism:Unlike Trump, Biden expected to make domestic terrorism a focusQAnon and other dark forces:How they are radicalizing Americans as the COVID-19 pandemic rages“Individuals…

100 Billion Views And Counting: 'CoComelon' Is Absolutely Dominating Netflix And YouTube

CoComelon Moonbug Entertainment In the world of entertainment, we report on all kinds of entities that dominate the YouTube space. The WWE YouTube channel has garnered 50 million views in its lifetime. Movieclips has generated 44 million watches. And a music outlet like Zee Music Company sits pretty with 30 million all-time views. And when we look at the SVOD realm, the movies and shows that dominate the biggest streaming platforms on the planet—such as Netflix NFLX , Amazon AMZN Prime, Hulu, Disney+ and HBO Max—received more attention this year than ever as COVID-19 forced everyone to remain indoors for their entertainment. Most of the time, those two realms are largely separated. A piece of content that dominates YouTube isn’t likely to crossover with Netflix, and vice versa. That is, except, for CoComelon. And if you need proof, then look no further than the number “100.” Because the CoComelon brand just passed 100 million subscribers on YouTube (the third-most of any channel) and 100 billion lifetime views (the second-most ever). Oh, and over on Netflix? The CoComelon show has spent over 100 consecutive days on the streaming platform’s Top 10 list (in fact, today marks the show’s 109th straight appearance).…

The right-hander posted a video on his YouTube page Saturday night in which he ranked the top five fan bases by their pitches on social media for him to join their team, and the Mets came in at No. 2 “Man, what a great time to be a Mets fan,” Bauer said. “So much excitement among the fan base right now. New ownership, some free agent signings already…the owner’s on Twitter saying he’s gonna sign free agents … the fan base is super passionate right now, super excited, super energized. “They’re trying to assemble a super team. Let’s get all the free agents…we’re gonna compete with the Yankees, spend more than the Yankees, beat the Yankees. You have that rivalry in New York between the Mets fans and Yankees fans, and the Mets fans feel like they can compete right now and be better than the Yankees.
