Youtube TV subscribers are being surprised with a free Chromecast with Google TV for their loyalty

You are here: Home / Chromecast / Youtube TV subscribers are being surprised with a free Chromecast with Google TV for their loyalty December 12, 2020 By Michael Perrigo Leave a Comment Youtube TV is well aware that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to buy in to a full subscription package thanks to the pandemic and their continuous content partnership fallouts like that of Tennis TV and Fox Sports Networks. Even though it’s not their fault that some deals simply can’t be negotiated in a way that benefits users, it’s nice to see that they’re doing what they can to show how much they appreciate subscribers despite the fac. Long time subscribers are now receiving an email containing an offer for a free Chromecast with Google TV in the color snow. A few weeks ago, they gave everyone free access to HBO Max and Cinemax for a full week and even a free trial to Hallmark Movies Now as the service launched on their platform. There is no specific rhyme or reason to who is receiving these emails or in what order aside from the prerequisite of being a long time subscriber. However long Google defines that as is not mentioned.…

Watch the first six minutes of Tenet now, from home, on YouTube

Christopher Nolan recently went on a very public tirade about the importance of movies, including his, being seen on the big screen — but if anyone’s interested in watching Tenet’s opening prologue, they can do so now on YouTube. Warner Bros. has posted the film’s first six minutes on YouTube ahead of the movie’s digital release next week. Don’t worry about spoilers for the time-warping heist film, there aren’t any. (I saw Tenet when it was released at a theater in suburban Canada; it was me and one other person at the other end of the theater.) The scene follows John David Washington’s Protagonist and a couple of other characters as they enter an auditorium to complete a mission. That’s really all you need to know. It’s a pretty fun, entirely Christopher Nolan segment that works on its own. Both Tenet and Nolan have become part of the news cycle again following Nolan’s condemning of Warner Bros. for deciding to release all 17 of its 2021 films on HBO Max the same day they debut in theaters. As Nolan put it in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, “Some of our industry’s biggest filmmakers and most important movie stars went…

YouTube Unveils Its Top 10 Most Watched Ads For 2020

The year’s most-watched advertisements have been revealed by YouTube, with Nike, Google and Hyundai the creators of the three most popular in 2020. Amid a year that brought unprecedented and unpredictable shifts for both consumers and brands, YouTube said ads in 2020 generated more than 470 million views and over 1.3 million likes—with 714,000 of those likes going to Clash of Clan’s short film, ‘Lost and Crowned’. While the list often features ads from the Super Bowl, the top game-day ad in 2020 hit a different tone, with Google’s Super Bowl spot ‘Loretta’ receiving many accolades after it shared the emotional, true story of an 85-year-old man who uses Google products to help him ‘not forget’ the memory of his late wife. (According to YouTube, the man is also the grandfather of a Google employee.) Josh Krasinski was also on hand to teach us how to smaht pahk the new Hyundai Sonata, while Turbo Tax made waves (and raised a few eyebrows) with its remixed ‘All People Are Tax People’ Super Bowl Spot. However, it was Nike’s ‘You Can’t Stop Us’ that took the top spot for the second time, with a video that spoke to the power of resilience…

Vertical Black Lines in YouTube Videos related to VP9

#1 I have a 15" 2018 MacBook Pro with a 2.6 Ghz i7 and Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB running macOS 11.0.1 and Safari 14.0.1. While watching YouTube videos, I see vertical black noise (almost a single line with some much smaller vertical lines parallel and near to the main line). The vertical lines are perfectly spaced dividing the video into 2 (or sometimes 4 although I can't find a way to make that happen now) sections depending on the size of the Safari window and video viewing mode (normal, theater, etc.). I have determined that this is related to the VP9 support. If I disable the VP9 decoder experimental feature, all looks just fine. Also in Chrome if I enable "VideoToolbox VP9 Decoding", then I see the problem there, too, when I did not see it before. In Chrome, the noise divides the video into 8 equal vertical areas. I've attached screen grabs showing the issue. Is this a software bug? Do I have bad hardware? Is there a way to further diagnose to tell? safari.png 786.4 KB · Views: 10 chrome.png 1.4 MB · Views: 4
