YouTube tests direct messaging. Here’s how it works. – Mashable

Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Elon Musk's X – all these sites allow users to privately chat with other users right inside the platform. Almost every major social media platform has a direct message feature. Well, almost every major social media platform except for YouTube. That looks like it may soon change though. According to a post from a YouTube employee on a Google support thread, YouTube is currently testing a new way to "share videos" through direct messages on the platform through the mobile app. YouTube says in the post that this has been a "top feature request." "We're experimenting with a new feature that makes it easy for you to share videos you love (long-form, Shorts and live streams) and have conversations about them directly on the YouTube mobile app," reads the YouTube post. "By messaging on YouTube, you accept that messages may be reviewed to ensure they follow our Community Guidelines. ABC and ESPN’s college football broadcasts saw some of their strongest TV ratings of the season Saturday, with the networks back on YouTube TV following Friday night’s deal to end the Disney–YouTube TV carriage dispute. After noticeable dips in viewership on Nov. 1 and Nov. 8, ABC had two games top 10 million viewers, and ESPN had its most-watched Saturday game since Week 3.  Here were the top five most-watched games last weekend: Oklahoma-Alabama: 10.5 million (ABC) Texas-Georgia: 10.4 million (ABC) South Carolina–Texas A&M: 4.3 million (ESPN) Notre Dame–Pitt: 4 million (ABC) Michigan-Northwestern: 3.76 million (Fox) Saturday marked the third time since 1996 that a single network drew 10 million–plus viewers for multiple games, as fans tuned in to Oklahoma’s narrow 23–21 win over Alabama and Georgia’s 35–10 blowout victory over Texas—both games with major College Football Playoff implications.  It was also ABC’s second-most-watched tripleheader of the season. Texas A&M’s 31–30 win over South Carolina, which featured a 27-point second-half comeback, is ESPN’s most-watched Saturday game since Week 3. While both that game and ABC’s broadcast of Notre Dame–Pitt in the noon ET slot beat Northwestern-Michigan—which was played at Wrigley Field—on Fox, the network’s Big Noon Saturday game window is

YouTube TV and Disney have finally resolved their licensing dispute, ending a weeks-long standoff that left millions of subscribers without access to major Disney-owned channels. With the new agreement in place, ABC, ESPN, FX, and the rest of Disney’s network lineup have returned to YouTube TV. During the back-and-forth, both companies publicly blamed each other for the stalled negotiations, while frustrated viewers looked elsewhere for alternatives. Many people temporarily switched to services like DirecTV Stream, even if they preferred YouTube TV’s cleaner interface. To compensate users for the blackout, YouTube TV issued a one-time $20 credit, and some subscribers even reported receiving up to $60 in bill credits spread across six months. The platform says users can still claim and redeem their $20 credit until December 9. With the dispute now behind them, YouTube TV says subscribers should see all Disney channels restored. The service also confirmed
