The July slaying of a 17-year-old sitting on a porch in Southeast D.C. was likely to have been an act of revenge for an earlier robbery, according to police charging documents, which allege that tension flared about the incident over Instagram.Police said Wednesday that Davon Alston, 19, of Oxon Hill, Md., has been charged with first-degree murder while armed in the July 1 slaying of 17-year-old Dennis Simms. Police said Simms was sitting with multiple other people outside a residence in the 800 block of Yuma Street SE, when a car drove by just after 2:30 p.m., and at least one person fired shots at the group.Simms lay dead under a black tent, his family wailing and sobbing near by. Simms’s family members told police he was not the intended target, according the charging documents.According to police charging documents, investigators came to believe that Alston was possibly a victim of an earlier robbery in Maryland.
