Jail for Limerick man who used Snapchat to deal drugs

A Limerick City man who used Snapchat for drug deals and says he was dealing to pay off his own debt has been jailed.  The 23-year-old was caught with a total of more than 25,000 euro worth of drugs and cash over the course of three searches and said he owed €14,000 for his own spiralling drug debt.  At Limerick Circuit Court on Mulgrave Street, Adam Stevenson of 2 Burke Avenue, Edward Street, was handed down four eight-month sentences for two assault charges and two drug charges all to run concurrently and another sentence of three years for the possession of drugs for sale or supply, with the final twelve months suspended – to run consecutively with the other sentences.  In relation to the assault, Judge Thomas O’Donnell said the fact that the accused came to the victim’s door armed with a hammer was alarming.  In sentencing for the drugs charges, Judge Thomas O’Donnell said that Mr Stevenson’s debt had ‘escalated rather than decreased’.  He said that the extortion involved and the level of distress caused to the family of the accused was an ‘extremely disturbing element’.  The court heard that at the time of the first offence, he had
