Facebook content disputing violence in Bucha shared more than the truth: Study | Arab News

DUBAI: A new study by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue has found that 27.5 percent of the Facebook posts it analyzed “cast doubt on the legitimacy of images from Bucha used by Western mainstream media,” and even more importantly, gained “significantly more traction online than those that did not question the mainstream narrative.”  Russian troops withdrew from the Ukrainian city of Bucha on March 30. As international media outlets reported their departure, footage of destruction, deaths and testimonies emerged. News media including the BBC, The Guardian and the New York Times reported witness testimony from survivors in Bucha, and Human Rights Watch documented several cases of Russian forces committing “laws-of-war violations against civilians in occupied areas” of Ukraine. “The cases we documented amount to unspeakable, deliberate cruelty and violence against Ukrainian civilians,” said Hugh Williamson, Europe and Central Asia director at HRW. “Rape, murder, and other violent acts against people in the Russian forces’ custody should be investigated as war crimes.” Russian state media and officials quickly and profusely offered their version of events,  » Read More

Click on Add/Remove and add people to the list. When you post a vacation photo, choose to share it only with people on that list. Independents' Facebook spending falls – The Age

Last time we caught up with our like-minded independents – pro-environment, pro-integrity commission, anti-carbon, anti-moderate Liberal MPs (just call don’t them a political party!) – the climate-minded crew were outpacing the major parties in their social media ad spending by a serious margin.Pied piper for independents.Credit:BenkeAs of mid-March, federal Sydney electorate of Wentworth independent Allegra Spender had shelled out almost $70,000 on Facebook advertisements in the previous 90 days and $34,000 on ads in the month to mid-March. At the time, the independents’ spending paled in comparison to Simon Holmes a Court’s environment cheer squad (and independent candidate ATM) Climate 200, which had forked out almost $350,000 on Facebook ads in the 90 days to March 25.But nine days into the federal election campaign, there has been a sea change. Spending data compiled by CBD on Facebook shows the majors are catching up.Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese alone has spent $68,000 in the past seven days, just pipping his Australian Labor Party’s $67,000. The Federal Liberals are in third place spending $31,000 in the past week.  » Read More

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Pitt (21-13, 9-8 ACC) clinched its fourth-straight series with a 4-1 victory over No. 8 Virginia (27-9, 10-8 ACC) on Sunday (April 17). The Panthers scored the game’s final three runs and held UVA scoreless over its final five trips to the plate. Six of the seven Cavalier hits on the day came with two outs and for the second time in the series Virginia was charged with multiple fielding errors. Only two of the four Panther runs were earned. Virginia turned a triple play in the fifth inning to escape a bases loaded jam unscathed in the fifth inning.   It was the first triple play by UVA since February 14, 2004 against NC A&T, the first game of Brian O’Connor’s coaching career. Going into the weekend only three other teams have turned a triple play this season. 𝗜𝗧'𝗦 𝗔 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗬!!!
