LinkedIn ‘like’ leads to sanction for magistrate – The Law Society Gazette

A magistrate who liked a post on LinkedIn which contained ‘several politically sensitive statements’ has been issued formal advice for misconduct.  Source: Alamy A complaint was made by a member of the public that Adrian Kermode had liked a posted in August 2025 on LinkedIn and his actions were in breach of the standards of conduct expected of judicial office-holders. Kermode accepted responsibility and apologised. A spokesperson for the Judicial Conduct Investigations Office said Kermode took ‘prompt action to delete the like and gave assurances as to his future conduct’. However the JCIO said the magistrate’s actions ‘risked undermining public confidence in his impartiality and had reputational implications for the magistracy’. It added: ‘The declaration and undertaking signed by all magistrates on their appointment states that they will maintain the good reputation of the magistracy at all times, in their private, working, and public lives. ‘Social media guidance for the judiciary cautions against expressing or appearing to endorse views that could cast doubt on an office-holder’s objectivity or impartiality. This includes engaging with controversial content, including by liking, sharing, or commenting on posts that relate to political, legal, or socially divisive issues.’ Mr Justice Keehan, on behalf of the lady chief

#watch #jammukashmir #israel #iran #khamenei | moneycontrol.com | 25 comments – LinkedIn

#Watch | 🚨Shia Muslim demonstrators gathered in Srinagar to protest against US and Israeli strikes on Iran after reports that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. Many held posters and voiced opposition to the attacks. #JammuKashmir #Israel #Iran #Khamenei It feels sad and hurtful to see these comments. Many Shia muslims respect Ayatollah Khamenei as a religious figure, just as Catholics look to the Pope and Buddhists to the Dalai Lama. Other religions also have their own spiritual leaders. For his own country he was a political leader, but for many others he was mainly a spiritual figure. Mourning him or opposing a foreign attack does not mean choosing Iran over India. People here have spoken up for Palestine, Ukraine, 26/11, Pahalgam and many other tragedies too. Kashmir itself has suffered the most from violence, including in Pahalgam. Ordinary Kashmiris have lost lives, peace and livelihood. So when people say “go to Iran” or question their belonging, it honestly feels unfair. Disagree with the protest if you want but please do not turn it into hate against an entire community. They didn't come when Hindus burnt in Bangladesh. Pls go to Iran & fight for your leadership in Iran.

“The Indian philosophical tradition is rooted in the art of asking the right questions and … – LinkedIn

“The Indian philosophical tradition is rooted in the art of asking the right questions and learning happens through finding answers. In many ways, we are returning to that foundational approach to AI-education,” says Prof V Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras. Kamakoti Veezhinathan | Ritu Singh | Tata Group | Tata Consultancy Services Like Comment Transcript There's an MIT study actually, which says that even today, in 2025, that's when the study was published. AI can replace 12% of the US labor force already. We're we're getting there. And, you know, incidentally, Indian developers are the second largest contributors to GitHub API. I mean, are we sort of, you know, doing this to ourselves? I mean, is that, how do you look at that paradox? I had a opportunity to meet Jeff Holman. Allman is a God for All India because each book only we all studied to pass examinations. Alvin came out with a very nice thing. He was visiting MIT. We should know. Start offering courses. A programming course where. We should make the LLM generate the program without you writing one one line of code or changing the syntax. See the whole Indian philosophical thought itself. The Northern District Rejects Settlement Attempt on Unlawful Monopolization Claims … – JD Supra

No. 22-cv-00237-HSG, 2025 WL 3654114 (N.D. Cal. Dec. 17, 2025) In this litigation, Plaintiffs allege LinkedIn unlawfully monopolized the professional social networking market in violation of Section 2 of the Sherman Act. No. 22-cv-00237-HSG, 2025 WL 3654114, at *1. Plaintiffs allege that LinkedIn protects its monopoly through “data centralization, machine learning models, and resulting trove of inferred data,” without which “a new entrant could not viably compete with LinkedIn.”  Id.  Defendant allegedly maintains its monopoly by engaging in two forms of anticompetitive conduct: 1) Defendant offers potential rivals access to its private user data through application programming interfaces (“APIs”), on the condition that those rivals do not compete with Defendant; and 2) Defendant integrated its user data with parent company Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing system, “tying up and driving up prices for scarce hardware resources.”  Id. I. Settlement Background On December 17, 2025, the Northern District of California denied Plaintiffs’ unopposed motion for preliminary approval of class action settlement of their case against LinkedIn (“Defendant”). No. 22-cv-00237-HSG, 2025 WL 3654114, at *1. The parties entered into a settlement agreement after participating in mediation in December 2024.  Id.  The settlement agreement included a term prohibiting Defendant from including Non-Use of LinkedIn’s

#whatstheword #alternatevsalternative #english #etymologyexplained #grammartips … – LinkedIn

Like Comment Transcript Raise your hand if you think alternate and alternative are interchangeable. They look similar, they sound similar, but they do not mean the same thing. Let me break it down for you. The reason they appear so confusingly similar is because both words ultimately originate from the same root. Alter in Latin, which means the other. On their way to English, they shared the road for a while, and then they went their separate ways. Alter became alternates, which means every other. In 15 century Latin, altanus took the form alternate. And this was used in the sense of doing first one thing and then the other. The past participle of this word was alternators. By early 16th century, it was adopted in English as alternate with the meaning to do something by turns. It's both a noun and a verb. So for example, if you can go to school by car or by bike, and you choose to use the car one day and the bike the next, you're alternating. Now there's a twist to this. Since the original usage had to do with two choices, it followed that the first choice would come into play
