Ohio AG announces $17.1B multistate settlement with Meta for safety measures on …

COLUMBUS — Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson announced a landmark $17.1 billion multistate settlement on Wednesday with Meta that will require the company to implement sweeping new safety measures designed to better protect children and teens on Instagram and Facebook. “With this historic settlement, Meta agrees to establish meaningful protections for young users,” Wilson said. “Digital platforms that cater to children have a duty to shield impressionable minds from the risks of unchecked exposure to social media.”  Under the proposed agreement, Ohio is expected to receive more than $319 million over the next decade. The settlement resolves claims that Meta designed its social media platforms with features intended to keep young users engaged and addicted, knowingly exposed children and teens to serious mental harms, and intentionally misled the public about the safety of its platforms, while also violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act by collecting data of children under the age of 13. The agreement represents a victory for the protection of children online and marks a significant step toward fundamentally transforming how the entire social media industry designs products for kids and teens. The settlement requires Meta to implement a series of safety features on Instagram and Facebook

Pokemon X / Twitter account has been hacked – Nintendo Everything

We wanted to give folks a quick heads up that Pokemon has been hacked on X, also known by some still as Twitter. A suspicious message was just posted on the official account a few minutes ago. At first glance, it may seem safe… until you look at it for just a few seconds. The post makes mention of a Pokemon memecoin. A contact address is included as well. Even though the message links to the 30th anniversary for Pokemon, this is most definitely not something that would end up on any official accounts. For those wondering, here’s a look at the message: You can also find the message for yourself here. We’d just advise against doing anything with the memecoin shared in the post. As of now this is the only post that has been made since the hack took place. The Pokemon Company will also now look to regain its account, and hopefully it’ll be able to do so soon. The timing isn’t great as the 2026 Pokemon World Championships are set to begin tomorrow. We’ll keep you about any further developments that emerge. In the meantime, check out other Pokemon news here . Update: The message has

Grassley’s Big Tech Investigation Yields Child Safety Results

08.27.2026 NCMEC reports Grassley’s oversight of major tech companies led to “significantly improved” child safety reporting. BUTLER COUNTY, IOWA – U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley’s (R-Iowa) investigation into eight major tech companies has prompted “significantly improved” and “more actionable” reports of online child exploitation, according to a letter from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). These improvements have allowed law enforcement to better respond to instances of child abuse. “Following your direct outreach to these platforms regarding these issues, NCMEC is pleased to share that each of the companies have constructively engaged with NCMEC to significantly improve their reporting to the CyberTipline… more actionable CyberTipline reports are being submitted, enabling law enforcement to better investigate offenders and safeguard children from sexual exploitation,” NCMEC wrote in a letter to Grassley. In April 2026, Grassley opened a congressional inquiry into Meta, TikTok, Amazon, Snapchat, Discord, X.AI, Grindr and Roblox regarding the companies’ alleged failure to sufficiently report online child sexual exploitation. In June 2026, Grassley released responses from each of the companies, which explained their efforts to improve reporting processes. In August 2026, NCMEC informed Grassley that each platform had taken “substantive measures” to address its reporting

YouTube, LinkedIn And Substack Crack Down On AI-Generated Content – – Black Enterprise

(Photo: REUTERS/Dado Ruvic) YouTube, LinkedIn, and Substack have introduced or expanded systems this summer to identify, label, or limit the distribution of certain AI-generated content. Major digital platforms are increasing scrutiny of AI-generated content, putting new pressure on businesses and creators to be transparent about how they use artificial intelligence in public-facing work, Inc.com reports. YouTube, LinkedIn, and Substack have introduced or expanded systems this summer to identify, label, or limit the distribution of certain AI-generated content. The moves come as platforms grapple with maintaining authenticity while generative AI makes producing text, images, and videos easier. YouTube announced on May 27 that labels for photorealistic or meaningfully AI-generated or altered content would become more prominent. Labels appear below long-form videos and as overlays on Shorts. YouTube also began rolling out internal detection systems in May that can automatically apply labels when it detects significant photorealistic AI use and creators have not disclosed it. LinkedIn has taken aim at what it describes as “AI slop,” or low-effort AI-generated content lacking original perspective. On July 30, the platform introduced an option allowing users to flag posts that “seem like AI slop.” More than one million people have used the feature, and LinkedIn
