Omicron: Belgium to Shut Cinemas, Following Denmark and Netherlands – The Hollywood Reporter

Belgium has become the latest European country to shut down cinemas, as well as concert halls and other entertainment venues, in an effort to stop the spread of the highly-contagious omicron variant of the coronavirus. The Belgium government on Wednesday said it would close all movie theaters starting this weekend. Other measures, including banning sports fans from stadiums and tightening capacity restrictions for shops, are intended to prevent a new wave of omicron infections from swapping the country’s over-burdened health system. Belgian prime minister Alexander De Croo did not rule out stricter restrictions should COVID-19 cases rise in the coming days. Last weekend, the Netherlands and Denmark introduced similar restrictions, sending cinemas back into lockdown. Theaters in Europe’s biggest territories — the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Russia — remain open, albeit often with restricted access for the untested or unvaccinated and with capacity restrictions and masking requirements. Germany has announced new COVID restrictions, which kick in on Dec. 28, but they will not include closing cinemas. In the U.K., Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said he will not introduce new measures to fight the spread of coronavirus before Christmas. The shutdowns come just as the European box office…

OnlyFans Founder Tim Stokely Steps Down as CEO – The Hollywood Reporter

OnlyFans founder Tim Stokely has stepped down as chief executive and will be immediately succeeded by Amrapali “Ami” Gan, the company said on Tuesday. Gan was most recently the chief marketing and communications officer for OnlyFans and will now “assume the day-to-day leadership” of the London-based company from Stokely, who is leaving to “pursue new endeavors,” OnlyFans said. Stokely will remain on as an adviser to assist with the leadership transition. A company spokesperson declined to comment further on Stokely’s reason for leaving the company. “Ami has a deep passion for OnlyFans’ business and I’m passing the baton to a friend and colleague who has the vision and drive to help the organisation reach its tremendous potential,” Stokely said in a statement. “OnlyFans is still a new company and Ami brings a fresh energy and reflects who we are as a business.” Stokely founded OnlyFans in 2016 and the creator-focused subscription service has since become most well-known for allowing sex workers and other adult content creators to charge fans for content. But over the summer, the platform faced widespread backlash from users when the company said it would ban “sexually explicit conduct” from its platform, which would target adult creators…

Dua Lipa in Nothing But Lingerie & Snow Boots is Honestly Such a Mood – StyleCaster

It’s about 40 degrees in New York City and I, for one, am freezing. But apparently, not everyone needs to bundle up when the temperatures drop! Most of us layer on the sweaters, jackets and cold-weather accessories as soon as December rolls around—but not Dua Lipa, who is literally too hot to get cold. If you need proof, let these photos of Dua Lipa in lingerie and snow boots do the trick! Out of all the celebrities I stalk on Instagram, I think Dua has to be my favorite follow. She is constantly posting photo dumps and unedited images, and I feel like she does a good job of really ~letting her fans in~ and showing us her real life. Whether it’s a group shot with her besties, her latest mani or an outfit too good to ignore, her feed almost always has something new to look at, so I make a point to check it regularly. In the summer, said ‘Gram is absolutely overwhelmed by swimsuit pics, whether she’s wearing a classic black string bikini or a cool crochet pick no one else could pull off. Lipa loves a good pool selfie—but in the winter, we definitely see fewer…

Omicron: Netherlands Shuts Cinemas for One Month, Ireland Imposes Curfew

The Netherlands has followed Denmark and put all its cinemas back into lockdown as part of new measures aimed at stemming the spread of the coronavirus. The Dutch government announced the new measures, which took effect Sunday morning, in a bid to preempt an expected surge of COVID-19 cases as the new omicron variant of the virus spreads across the country. The lockdown, which began at 5 a.m. local time Sunday morning and is set to run until Jan. 14, applies to all cultural institutions, as well as schools, universities and non-essential shops. The Netherlands had been under a COVID curfew, with cinemas and other institutions required to shut between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. Ahead of the Dutch decision, the Danish government, citing a spike in COVID cases, closed all its cinemas until Jan. 17. Ireland, while keeping theaters open, has tightened restrictions, requiring cinemas to close by 8 pm. Theaters in the rest of Europe, including the region’s largest territories of the U.K., France, Germany, Spain and Italy, remain open. But with COVID cases rising across the continent, many fear more countries will soon introduce restrictions and lockdown measures. Last fall, a new wave of COVID-19 infections, pushed…

National Retail Federation Speaks Out in Favor of Increasing Vaccine Rates Next Year – WWD

A SHOT AT RETAIL: The National Retail Federation has responded to two federal district court rulings relating to the Biden administration’s efforts to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine for Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s employer-based companies. Senior vice president of government relations David French said, “The NRF is disappointed that the Sixth Circuit has decided to lift the stay instituted by the Fifth Circuit. NRF Will consider additional legal options. We also continue to prepare our members to comply with this onerous mandate.” The NRF and other trade associations appealed to the Supreme Court Friday night, a NRF spokeswoman said Saturday. The NRF estimates that the order will impact approximately 3.7 million retail workers at OSHA employers with 100 employees or more, the spokeswoman said. That figure does not include corporate offices, she added. In a statement released Friday night, the organization urged the Biden administration to delay the timeline of the implementation of the Emergency Temporary Standards. “We can work together to find visible ways to increase vaccination rates and mitigate the spread of the virus in 2022,” French said. With coronavirus cases spiking and the Omicron variant spreading across the country – and beyond U.S. borders – many governments,…
