By Sebastian Quiroz 0 COMMENTS 12/24/2020 9:06 am On December 19, a streamer from Twitch, known as MissBehavin, transmitted by an error contained for adults, since she performed an erotic dance where she showed her intimate parts. In response, The platform banned the girl for only three days, a decision that has not been to the liking of the public. After this event, MissBehavin revealed that it was all a mistake, and the show was intended for her OnlyFans audience. In this way, on December 22, the streamer recovered her channel. However, people are not happy with this decision. Considering how restrictive Twitch has become in recent months, many have pointed out that the punishment was very light, especially considering that lower-grade stocks have come to face months of banning. This is what the Twitch rules mention regarding the type of content that MissBehavin presented a few days ago: “Sexually explicit content and activities, such as pornography and sexual acts and services, including the solicitation and offering thereof, are strictly prohibited. Emissions in areas where sexual activity or nudity may be taking place are prohibited, even when such conduct or activity is not produced by the streamer’s indication or is…

The 5 biggest moments in streaming from 2020

In a year where online interaction was put under a microscope more so than ever before, 2020 proved that livestreaming could hold its own as the entertainment medium of the future. Between the countless communities that were either spawned or grew exponentially in 2020, this year proved to be a landmark turning point in streaming history. Here are five of the biggest moments in streaming from 2020.  Shroud’s return to Twitch, Aug. 12 After Mixer ceased operations this June, many of the streamers who inked groundbreaking deals to stream exclusively on Microsoft’s platform were left without a home. One of the most notable names to be left without a platform to stream on after the “Great Mixer Exodus” was former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive pro Shroud, who had streamed on Twitch prior to signing his exclusive deal with Mixer last October.   But on Aug. 11, Shroud announced he would be returning to Twitch by way of an exclusive deal. The next day, he went live to the tune of over 500,000 viewers. After just about 10 months away from the platform, Twitch welcomed Shroud back with open arms. Prior to his departure, he had accumulated well over seven million followers on…

New 'felony streaming' measure is aimed at piracy services, not Twitch streamers

Yes, Congress approved a new bill Monday that would classify illegal streaming as a felony offense, but the feds won’t be going after your favorite Twitch streamers, YouTubers, or their subscribers. They’re more interested in services dedicated to streaming pirated content. Monday night, Congress approved an over $2 trillion government spending and coronavirus relief package that included a handful of controversial copyright and trademark measures. A felony streaming bill, authored by Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC), was included as part of that massive package. The news circulated all across the internet; in a poorly headlined Hollywood Reporter article, tweets, and YouTube videos. Quickly, content creators and their fans grew increasingly concerned that the bill could threaten their livelihoods or their favorite means of entertainment. But according to a press release from Tillis’ office and statements made by tech advocacy groups like Public Knowledge, streamers and their fans have no cause for alarm. “As a general matter, we do not see the need for further criminal penalties for copyright infringement,” Meredith Rose, senior policy counsel at Public Knowledge, said in a statement earlier this month. “However, this bill is narrowly tailored and avoids criminalizing users, who may do nothing more than click…

Dr Disrespect remains one Twitch's top Warzone streamers in 2020 despite ban

Legendary streamer Dr Disrespect may have been banned from Twitch in 2020 under mysterious circumstances, but that hasn’t stopped the two-time from remaining on of the top Warzone players on the platform according to a new report. Even though Dr Disrespect was randomly permanently banned from Twitch back in June, his numbers were still high enough for him to remain the eighth most-watched Warzone streamer of 2020. The report by the esports betting site Unikrn states that Doc had a whopping 12,213,359 hours watched on Twitch while playing Warzone in 2020. This put him ahead of Cloakzy and German sensation MontanaBlack88 who rounded out the top ten. This is quite staggering considering just how much of the year Dr Disrespect missed on Twitch, with the streamer only being on Twitch for half of it. YouTube/DrDisrespectDr Disrespect has been seeing success on YouTube. Since the ban, Doc has started to broadcast on YouTube, but the report only takes into account Twitch statistics, which firmly show that the two-time was ahead of most of the pact when it came to drawing Warzone viewers.  Read More: xQc roasts “boomer” Dr Disrespect after he mocked his content “The real story here is Dr Disrespect…

Dr. Disrespect Disrespects xQc's Bloons Stream

The gaming personality recently took to Twitter to harangue fellow streamer xQc for playing Bloons Tower Defense 6. Dr Disrespect, it seems, is taking his name seriously. The gaming personality recently took to Twitter to harangue fellow streamer xQc for playing Bloons Tower Defense 6. As you may or may not know, xQc was recently banned from Twitch for stream sniping other players during a session of Fall Guys. Ironically, earlier this year, he was seen baiting an entire lobby of stream snipers during a different game of Fall Guys and admonishing those players. The ban from Twitch was temporary, and xQc eventually found his way back to the site. The former Overwatch pro is known for playing a variety of games. In fact, his Twitter profiles show that he is even willing to play a game that is meant to help people type on a keyboard faster. So, it's perhaps not surprising that he chose to play Bloons Tower Defense 6—a tower defense game where monkeys throw darts at baloo-er...bloons. What is surprising, is that he had 60,000 people watching him play the game. This is where Dr. Disrespect comes in. The good doctor made a short 44-second video in…
