With an estimated 3.96 billion social media users worldwide, it is no surprise to learn that most students have at least one social media account. Whether it is Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, or TikTok, people of all ages, from your 85 year-old grandmother to your 7 year-old nephew, can be found sharing their life somewhere on a social media platform (and possibly, your life too!). In 2021, it appears acceptable to share all types of information, from the tiniest of details, such as what you ate for lunch or your newest dance moves, to more controversial items, such as political and religious beliefs. People share the details of their everyday lives with friends, family, and strangers. For many social media users, their first inclination is to “post” about any experience they have just encountered - the good, the bad, and the ugly, with their closest “friends.” In a world where posting or snapping about any thought instantaneously occurs, when is sharing an opinion or criticism too much, and who decides when enough is enough? She was in high school, and did it at the request of her best friend; their long streak would eventually break when Maeve went to study abroad in college and had less-reliable cell service. Now a 27-year old copywriter living in New York, Maeve only uses Snapchat rarely — to stay in touch with one particular friend and also to keep up with a group Snap. The app has a sentimental appeal, says Maeve, who reflects on Snapchat’s unique way of reminding her of “stuff that just feels like a relic in a way.” But it wasn’t always this way. Snapchat Snapchat has partnered with six Australian publishers to produce new shows for its Discover platform. The social media company is working with Pedestrian.TV, LADbible Australia, Tastemade, Little Dot Studios, Banijay, and Totem Network to bring shows, as well as existing TV series, to mobile. Endemol Shine Australia, part of Banijay, will feature key moments from MasterChef Australia to Discover, helping expand the show’s reach to younger viewers. LADbible is working on three original series for Snapchat Discover, including Aussie ASMR and In My Own Words. A man from Norwood has been convicted after he filmed himself waving a knife around in a nightclub. Abel Buafo, 23, of Berry Lane, pleaded guilty to possession of a knife, possession of Class A drugs, possession of a Class B drug, possession of criminal property and being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug. It comes after detectives were alerted to Snapchat videos of Buafo at a nightclub on Silver Street in Enfield, where he recorded himself in ‘selfie style’ with a black folding knife on December 22, 2019. Officers reviewed CCTV from the nightclub for the same evening which corroborated the Snapchat footage. She alleges that the program was aware of a plan by the kids to attack her daughter, and says it could have been prevented.Program officials releasing a statement saying, "These encounters took place after program hours and off program property.
