WhatsApp has historically relied on OTP codes for user sign-ins, though an upcoming update appears to contain an option to add a traditional password for added security. Better late than never! It’s odd to think that, for as long as WhatsApp has been around, it has never required users to create and use a traditional alphanumeric password to log in. The long-standing method has made use of one-time passwords sent via SMS. With that code, logging in has been relatively painless. According to WABetaInfo , a new beta version of the app – Android 2.26.7.8 – the app will offer the ability to use passwords in addition to two-factor authentication. It doesn’t appear as if WhatsApp plans to require a password to operate normally. via WABetaInfo The feature is reportedly being added to deter SIM swapping. In those cases, users can “steal” OTP codes and log in with little resistance. Since all one needs is the phone number and OTP, WhatsApp accounts are open to anyone with SMS access. WhatsApp may soon let you continue Android conversations (and possibly calls) on Windows 11 via “Resume.” This feature appeared in Windows 11 preview builds and showed up automatically on my PC before disappearing on its own. However, it doesn’t appear to work (yet). Microsoft has been trying to bring Android and Windows 11 closer ever since it killed off Windows Phone, and its latest attempt is ‘Resume.’ The idea of Resume is similar to Apple Handoff, where you could resume iPhone activities on a MacBook. For example, if you are drafting an email on your iPhone and switch to a MacBook, you can resume the activity instantly. Windows 11 has something similar, but the catch is that most apps, including inbox apps, do not support ‘Resume’ capabilities. On Windows 11, if you open a document on Android, which is synced to OneDrive, and start your PC, the taskbar would nudge you to pick up from where you left off. The functionality has been spotted in the latest iOS beta version 26.7.10.72, released through Apple's TestFlight programme, according to WABetaInfo. Once introduced, the feature will enable users to compose a message, select a preferred delivery time, and let the app send it automatically when the scheduled moment arrives — without requiring any further action. It’s rolling out Group Message History, which lets group chat admins (and members, depending on permissions) share the most recent messages with new members of a chat. That should make it easier to catch people up without blasting old messages back to the whole group. You can share up to 100 messages at once.
