TROY’s Sound of the South Marching Band invited to perform in the 2027 London Parade …

Troy University’s Sound of the South Marching Band will perform in the London Parade and Festival on January 1, 2027. The invitation to perform is extended to only two university bands per year. London’s New Year’s Day Parade takes place in Westminster and offers performance opportunities before a street audience of more than 600,000 spectators and a global television audience of up to 600 million viewers. The Sound of the South will also perform in the Festival Concert Series at London’s most prestigious music venues. Dr. Mark Walker, Director of Bands, said that this is the band’s first international trip, which will be filled with once-in-a-lifetime performances throughout the city of London in both the parade and concert venues. “Many of our students have not been out of the Southeast region; for these students to have the opportunity to travel to London to perform, study, take in the culture and visit famous sites is a testament to their hard work and commitment to the band, Troy University, and to their education,” he said. Bob Bone, founder and chairman of the parade, said that marching bands are the highlight for the parade audience. “The thing that always comes out on top

Champions League results: Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Liverpool bring the goals – Yahoo Sports

While the goals weren't as plenty as Tuesday's total of 43, several clubs kept pounding the back of the net during lopsided victories. Two matches — Monaco-Tottenham and Atalanta-Slavia Prague — failed to produce any goals. Meanwhile, three European giants hit for at least four in their victories. Advertisement First up, Chelsea put five goals past Ajax for a 5-1 win. Kenneth Taylor picked up a red card in the 17th minute, putting the Dutch side down to 10 men. That's when the Blues pounced, scoring twice in nine minutes and then adding two more via Enzo Fernández and Estêvão penalty kicks during first-half stoppage time. The goal was Estêvão's first in the Champions League and made him Chelsea's youngest goalscorer ever in the competition — 33 minutes after Marc Guiu had claimed the record for himself. Liverpool went from trailing 1-0 to going up by two goals in a nine-minute span at the end of the first half during their 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. Advertisement Nine minutes after Rasmus Kristensen put the hosts ahead, Andy Robertson found a breaking Hugo Ekitike, who put a shot past Michael Zetterer and withheld a celebration against his former team. No. 1 Cardinal Downs the Dons – Stanford Athletics

Matthew Huang/ISI Photos Men's Soccer October 22, 2025 Stanford recorded its fourth consecutive clean sheet for the first time since 2017 STANFORD, Calif. - Another clean sheet from the Cardinal defense and a second-half strike from Shane De Flores lifted No. 1 Stanford to a 1-0 win over Bay Area rival San Francisco on Wednesday evening.  The Cardinal (12-1-1) extended its home winning streak to nine games with the win, capping off the nonconference slate with a 7-0-1 record. San Francisco fell to 8-4-1 on the season, snapping a three-game winning streak.  The victory also marked Stanford's fourth straight shutout, the program's longest streak since the 2017 national championship team blanked nine consecutive opponents. “San Francisco is a very good team that’s having an amazing season, so we knew it would be a difficult game,” said Knowles Family Director of Men’s Soccer Jeremy Gunn. “Chances are everything in soccer. If we managed to convert in the first half, I think we would’ve seen a much more free-flowing game, but we gave them very little to get excited about and it was only going to be a matter of time until we found a goal.” Stanford created numerous chances from the onset
